For many years Penny Lane consisted of a group of lacklustre shops, which must have left many tourists slightly bemused as to what the fuss was all about. However, things have noticeably taken a turn for the better in recent years. The best of the bunch is probably The Ark, where the dark chunky furniture, whitewashed walls and decorative foliage create an elegant setting that is perfect for an intimate rendezvous or a pleasant light lunch. The menu and is served by the happiest, attentive staff you could wish for.
