Overview
Situated near to Lime Street Station, this was the city's original central shopping arcade. Offering a large number of stores, from high street names such as Woolworths, Vision Express, Dunne's, Adams, Evans, Beatties and Thornton's to smaller independent outlets selling everything from shoes to collectables. A traditional, but declining market is situated on the upper floor, with a selection of stalls offering clothing, fresh fish, meat and household goods at rock bottom prices. Other facilities on the ground floor worth mentioning are the Post Office that provides full postal facilities and a large fast food cafe.Open Hours
Fr to Sa from 09:00 AM to 05:30 PM, Su from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM, Mo to We from 09:00 AM to 05:30 PM, Th from 09:00 AM to 08:00 PMI was disgusted to find no feeding facility for Breast feeding Mums, the changing facility wasn't that clean in itself. I think there should be a nice place to go and feed and change your children. I myself had to go to John lewis coffee shop and sit there to feed my baby I don't think it is fair to other people to see Mums breast feeding in public I now it is natural but I dont feel comfortable sitting with other people to do this.
St John's days must be numbered as it is the most foul shopping centre I have ever had the misfortune to visit. If ever a place earned the title of "Chav City" then this dreadfull throwback from our first attempts at apeing the American shopping mall is the place. The best thing the owners could do is copy what the owners of Manchester Arndale did and demolish it and rebuild a brighter airy shopping space. It's dark, dingy, outdated and a bit threatening. If you are claustraphobic then avoid it at all costs. While I'm at it SACK the cleaners, employ proper ones and have a bit of pride by sprucing up and regularly cleaning the entrances especially the one leading from Lime Street Station what horrible image that gives to any visitor to the city
