My office is about a five minute walk from Holland Park near the Holland Park tube station. This is very good for me, as I have a choice of several great places to buy food to take to the park at lunch time. I usually sit in the flower garden area where there are quite a few benches, and have a leisurely lunch. Sometimes I take a news paper or magazine to read while extending my stay. I often see other park goers reading books they brought along. This is a park for people of all ages and backgrounds. There are always mothers with their children in the park, and I think to myself what a wonderful place Holland Park would be to grow up near. Somehow the chaos of the rest of the world is left behind when you enter Holland Park, and it's a great get away place for lunch.

This is an oasis of calm and green in the middle of a very busy borough in London.Lovely shops and houses in the area,plenty of places to find a picnic lunch and sit watching people and the kids an dogs.

Possibly the prettiest park in London. It is a fantastic blend with its "wild" areas, japanese park and playing fields. There are places for everyone from the eldery who enjoy feeting the ducks and playing with the swuirrels, to the youth enjoying the playing fields to the nature lover with its large wildlife and well kept woods... Dont leave London without "meeting" Holland Park Stefano C.G.

It was autumn and the park looked resplendent...much, much lovelier than its more famous peers Hyde Park, Regent's Park and Kensington Gardens. Woody in brilliant hues of orange, red and gold, the park was also so much more alive, with little squirrels darting about and rustling up some mischief (and were there rabbits too? Sorry, but this memory is 8-years-old), and the tranquil lakes occupied by ducks and geese (or were they swans?) gliding silently in groups. I laughed at the dog toilet (had never seen one before) and was enchanted at the thought of plays and concerts being staged in the park. But most magical were the benches placed in public and semi-hidden corners of the park. Most of them had touching inscriptions on them, in memory of people who loved the park or the death of some loved ones. The bench that I chose to sit on described how someone had spent many times sitting there and drinking in the beauty around him, and invited visitors to sit, too, and enjoy the view as he did. So I sat there, listening to John Williams playing Holland Park on my CD walkman, and dreamt the afternoon away. Some day, I hope to return to the park, and have my inscription there: "Chuah Siew Eng travelled all the way from Malaysia, drawn to this park by a song, and found it to be as wonderful as she heard."
