Overview

Explore the natural history of the planet Earth from the prehistoric era to the present day at one of London's most visited museums. In 1881, the Natural History Museum moved to its present venue. Designed by Alfred Waterhouse, this building is now one of London's most beautiful and most recognized. These hallowed halls now house more than 300 years' worth of collections, with over 68 million specimens. Broadly divided into Life and Earth galleries, the museum provides much more than can be seen in a day, and your feet will get tired before your brain does. Let your kids run wild amongst dinosaur skeletons, erupting volcanoes and life size constructs of blue whales - it's unlikely they'll ever forget their first visit here. Admission is free.

Open Hours

Best museum in London, and its freeby Yahoo | 2008-05-05 07:08:17 |

Great place to visit. Most of it is free. Can take a long while to see the dinosaurs as they are very popular and often have long queues. Is a must to see if you visit London!

For the natural science buff, this is the place to go!! The building is old yet very well kept. The dinosaur and gem exhibits were awesome. There were exhibits on animals (even stuffed dogs). The employees were very helpful and friendly. If I had a chance to go again, I would in a heartbeat.

Do not miss it!by Yahoo | 2006-03-05 07:03:08 |

A very interesting place,a massive old building containing a world of history. I was very impressed by the dinosaurs exhibitions, it was amazing the way they are so well kept! Also the staff working there were friendly and helpful. There is also an ice rink outside..
