Overview

From the moment you walk though the doors, it becomes very apparent that this isn't your typical museum. One of the city's largest and most popular museums, California Science Center is a place to learn about the wonders of science through numerous interactive exhibits and demonstrations. In addition the exhibits, the museum is home to LA's only IMAX theater, which presents short and uniquely shot films on a screen the size of a three story building. It is a fun place for children, parents, students or anyone with a thirst for discovery. Admission to the museum is free.

Free and great for the familyby Yahoo | 2009-01-02 23:50:42 |

This is a great free place to take your family. You only have to pay for parking and let your kids explore. Not to mention the Rose Garden Cafe offers pizza to wraps so something for everyone. I notice the past few times the traveling exhibits change with in a few months. They also have the an IMAX. I love how the IMAX has its food cost lower then other movie theaters. This is truly an awesome place for families on a budget, and its next to the beautiful rose garden.

Don't Waste Your Timeby Yahoo | 2007-12-28 18:15:44 |

This was very uninformative and boring museum. Don't waste your time here. The worst waste of time is the 50 ft woman. They made a big slightly moving scale mode of a woman and a corny cartoon just to demonstrate the principle of homoeostatis (equilibrium). The only thing maybe slightly interesting is the level out front to lift a Toyota Tundra. But if you think about the math it is phony. You are not really lifting the car. It is 5400 lbs and must be counter- balanced already. The hurricane simulator, earthquake simulator, and Blue Angels simulator are rather boring. All the exhibits are rather boring. This was the worst science museum I have ever seen. Go to the Natural History Museum next door instead.

Can't beat the price!by Yahoo | 2006-09-10 06:43:07 |

Free admission, $5 parking - hard to beat that price for a place to entertain the kids. Lost of educational exhibits, but even young children who don't get the educational part still seem to have fun going all around to the different displays. Especially quiet on the weekends when the school classes are not visiting. My daughter's favorites are the earthquake simulation room, the chicks hatching from eggs and the area where you can build your own structures. If you're willing to spend a little more, there is an IMAX theater on the premises, which is always an impressive show. There's also a McDonalds downstairs for lunch, plus another restaurant. We didn't find much in the gift shop - lots of high-quality but fairly expensive things. This is a fairly new and very nice/clean facility with very easy access from the carpool lane of the 110 freeway.

the place to spend your afternoonby Yahoo | 2006-05-30 13:01:59 |

It was , first of all, the most interesting and fun afternoon downtown, ever! Plenty of expos to choose from, old and new ones. I remember I saw the german doctor's exibit , BODYWORKS ,with the cerated anatomical organs....and it made me give up smokeing! Forever! Aside from this, I am realy shure you can enjoy ther a good 3D animated film and plenty of other wonders from across the globe. Eat an ice cream , relax, and tahe the 405 home in a minute.

Free, Fun, Family Outingby Yahoo | 2005-08-12 19:44:28 |

We almost always visit this museum when traveling to Los Angeles. I have 3 kids ranging from 11 - 4 and all of them love it! No matter how early we arrive, they are always sad to leave because there is so much to see. If you have little ones (under 6/7) there are some special areas inside the larger sections of the museum that cater specifically to this age group. The little ones can go inside and enjoy hours of fun while the older kids enjoy the rest of the exhibits in the same general area. I can't rave enough about this museum. The best part is, it's all free!! There's an IMAX theatre on-site that costs. But I've never been as we usually run out of time and the museum is closing. This is a must do for families with kids. Fun, free and fantastic!
