Overview
The popular nine-hole, par three Los Feliz Municipal Golf Course offers the ideal opportunity to either practice your short game or simply enjoy a modest golfing experience. Since being featured in the cult film Swingers, it has become a regular destination of locals, celebrities and tourists. The most prominent hazards are the numerous trees, which line every fairway. The greens tend to vary greatly in terms of slope and speed, which provides a great opportunity to brush up on your putting before venturing out onto the city's larger courses. This is a quaint little place and is really nice for a quick round of golf. It's very CHEAP, so don't expect anything spectacular, if you want spectacular, pay up and go to a fancy 18-hole course! If you'd like to just have a fun time - this is a great setting. The fairways are very narrow so there's always a chance that someone's game crosses over yours. There are some very large trees (everywhere), but since it's a short and pretty straight-shot course, the trees add the challenge you wouldn't have otherwise. You just have to adjust your game and play according to the environment (that's a no-brainer!). There is no dresscode, the crowd is casual and locals get a discount of $6 per game, out-of-towners at $10... now... THAT'S CHEAP!!! Tee offs are on mats and you can get away with a 9, pitching wedge, and putter. If you're going on the weekends, try shooting for an afternoon tee time - less crowds. Overall - cheap and fun!
This is a great course for the individual who can't fork out a ton of cash for a game of golf. It's only four dollars to play during the week and if you want to go around again and make it a full 18 it will only cost you two more dollars for a replay. The trees are a pain but that just makes it more of a challenge. This course has a real laid back come as you are attitude. If you are looking for a country club environment this course is not for you. If you are looking to go out and shoot around for the afternoon you couldn't pick a better spot. This is a good course to learn on.
The maintenance people here are unaware that golf is a game played in the air; they assume you hit the ball along the ground. If you hit an absolutely perfect shot on several of these holfes, your ball will be stopped by trees. Par three holes should of course be free of overhanging branches, and this course has plenty of them.
