Overview
This is quite simply the nerve center of the CBS Television Network. The 1952 building, later renovated in 1976, is home for many of the top CBS executives, as well as the studio where many of its programs are filmed. Free tickets for shows can be acquired from the box office for shows like Hollywood Squares and The Price is Right, usually up to one week in advance. If you're a late night talk show fan, tickets for Politically Incorrect and the Late, Late Show can also be obtained here. Tickets are free, but be advised that your ticket does not automatically guarantee you a seat. Depending on the show, you may not get in on the day you requested. The Price is Right is notoriously hard to get into. You can call for tickets or get them directly at the box office. My friend from Iowa waited over 7 hours in line to get into the show. no explanation from the Red coat CBS staff. Finally go into the the studio, people were pumped and loud, it was a fun expierience despite the long wait!
I used to work at Television City and I can tell you, its no Universal Studios. But I can say that its fun to see the sets get swapped out where they make the Young and the Restless and since you don't have to be in line the whole time, you're right next door to The Grove, the super outdoor mall with the Farmers Market, so you can do some shopping and you have a hundred choices for lunch.
We went to see the Late Late Show. It was a great experience. The crew were very kind and gave specific instruction as to when to clap and laugh. The tapping took about an hour and they did segments for more than one show. We only waited outside for about 30 minutes and then led into the studio. Looks a lot bigger on TV!!! Very small studio. We got our tickets from a online source. It was very easy and I would definitely do again the next time we are in LA!
I have watched the Price is Righr since it aired in Sept. of 72. I was a new Mom and Bob Barker was like a family friend. As a family of 8 (we raised 6 children) we all looked forward to the show. Please find someone else to be host. The show needs to have someone who is not so over the top like Rosie. Thanks Mary Haug
Yeah, the wait was long (9 hours) but we saw Bob and it was the most fun I had on my trip to Los Angeles.
