Overview
This mini-amusement park provides the centerpiece of the Santa Monica Pier. The park itself comprises a large ferris wheel, a dragon swing, a small roller coaster, an action ride theater and a number of other rides geared towards children. Take a refreshing ride on the carousel, ride the giant wheel or enjoy a nice meal at the food arena, either way, you're sure to enjoy yourselves! A host of free shows can also be seen at Pacific Park, including concerts s, karaoke, animal shows and more. Built in 1988 after a storm destroyed the end of the pier, the park has been the center of pier activity ever since. It is also an ideal venue for your private events and parties. Hours are seasonal. Great place for kids ...from the rides and games to the bubbles and the merry go 'round on Santa Monica Pier. We were there on a chilly, windy day...it would be SO fun in warm weather. But we beat the crowds! There was a great section of smaller rides for little kids as well as a roller coaster and ferris wheel for the bigger guys. Traditional carnival food is available as well as a pizza hut and taco bell - sounds bad but the kids love these choices! And its all about the kids here! Be prepared to spend some money rides and games are not cheap.
Read the reviews of the Santa Monica Pier. This is the "amusement park" inside. It's best feature perhaps is the rock climbing pillar, otherwise it's pretty much what you'd get at a pier or local fair in terms of rides and games (shoot the clown with water). If that's what you're looking for then it's even better because of the view - though it can get crowded on weekends.
this place was absolutely great for young and old children, including adults. its in a great location and has good food. it has a fun enviroment and its garunteed fun. the ocean is right there too so there are many things to do there as well. there is miniature golf and rides. bumper cars and a ferris wheel. restaurants and shops too. it is a great place to visit.
