Overview
With five different shows on per week, this is undoubtedly one of the capital's most important flamenco clubs. It attracts first-class performers and true aficionados. All the most famous stars of today have passed through here at one time or another. Performances start around midnight and you can make a real night out of it by coming for dinner as well. The restaurant specializes in wholesome Spanish home-cooking with dishes like Rabo de Toro (oxtail stew).I don't know if the show is always as outstanding as it was the time I went but on a tiny stage young lions of flamenco throughly blew me away, this was perhaps the most intense experience of flamenco I've ever had. there is another place in Madrid that boasts "princess di came here" which should be avoided. at least the night I saw it the performers were on autopilot, were themselves so thoroughly bored with what they were doing that I walked out in spite of paying $30+
If in Madrid, don't miss this true flamenco show. We were there in late March 2005 and would return to Spain just to go again to Casa Patas. The restaurant is great. Just ask for a "surtido" of tapas and get sangria. By the time the show starts, you'll be already super satisfied. Esy to get to by the Madrid metro(subway) and not too far from the Plaza Major and Puerta del Sol which is the center of Madrid. You need resrvations. We went on a Moday night and the place was full. Great guitarists with much soul!
