Portuguese Square Attractions & Landmarks
Portuguese HeritageOverview
The Portuguese sailors and fighters, who came ashore after defeating the Malay Sultan, married local girls and by and large have resided within Malaccan borders. The good currency of Malaccan tourism has provided a stable means of living for some of these Eurasians who are naturally good entertainers and cooks. The square lies on the outskirts of Malacca town in the Ujong Pasir district and hosts souvenir stalls, Portuguese restaurants and dancing performances.
Not Portugueseworth a tour
The Square is badly maintained and does not give one a feeling of 'Portuguese'. It's the right idea but not implemented properly. What happened to the Saturday night traditional dances?
simply a great historical place with typical piscatorial sceneries and delicious seafood meals.
