Overview

The Museum of Science & Industry has won many awards for its interactive, hands-on approach. This makes it great for children, who love to grapple with - rather than just look at - exhibits. Stand and look in awe at a Beyer Garratt locomotive (one of the largest ever built) or walk through a perfect reconstruction; down to the sounds and smells of a 19th-century sewer!

Open Hours

Mo to Su from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM

This museum is a must see with the People's History museumby Yahoo | 2007-08-03 21:59:57 |

Lots for kids to do, gives a deeper understanding of the machines, products, trade, and toll on workers of the industrial revolution. A must see is the history of waste water, plumbing and gas lighting in the city. Also, a must see is the People's History Museum, built in a former pump house that use to distribute the water pressure that ran the cotton factories. The People's History Museum has more on the horrible conditions under which workers lived and worked in the city.

This will entrall all age groups - from grandparents thru to grand kids. Try to go when the steam engines are out. There are hands on experiences from the kids and nostalgic trips down memory lane for the oldies. The air museum side is crammed with old and more recent aircraft. The downstairs cafe is very good with its lounge settees.
