Overview

Named after the thoroughfare (Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, or EDSA) that came to world attention during the miraculous People Power Revolution of 1986, this exemplary, deluxe business hotel opened in 1992 and easily filled its guest and function rooms. The hotel also became popular for its lobby lounge, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing lush tropical greenery. An additional wing was constructed in 1997. Three shopping malls are within the vicinity.

Bad Start, excellent finish!by Yahoo | 2008-07-27 20:07:25 |

I booked into the Edsa ShangiLa on one of their specials, unlimited laundry, free internet access and above all limo from and to the airport. Value rate (I believe). I arrived at the airport, and no car. Not amused. Rang the hotel and asked for a car. Made it clear I was at the domestic airport. 20 minutes later no car. Everyone else has gone and we are the only people left at the airport. Did my best British complaint, this involved much sarcasm, irony and above all more sarcasm and irony and a bit of a raised voice. They are used to Americans who dont understand irony so this probably lost on them, Told them I expected the manager to meet me in reception and explain himself to me! (Tried the same with the Holiday Inn once and they just ignored me). Limo arrived some 40 minutes late. Arrived at the hotel and was met by the chief concierge, front desk manager and the assistant hotel manager amongst others. No need to check in here we will ll do it in your upgraded room (double upgrade to be precise), Genuinely they were great about it. The hotel was great, the service was great, the place is clean and professionally maintained. The restaurants are OK, and breakfast buffet is about as good as you can get. The swimming pool is good and no complaints about all my visitors using the facilities. Its about as central as you could want (given where I wanted to be) and I could have no complaints whatsoever. I shall stay again. I only hope they forget to pick me up so I can get another double upgrade!

I go every month!by Yahoo | 2007-09-22 07:50:44 |

Been frequent guest for years! Always been a great bargain-now with weak dollar and Manila gettin busy -not the bargain used to be ,but still 5 star! With a litte work on their water pressure(which I keep trying to remind them of)I have no complaints!

Would like to try another hotel next time.by Yahoo | 2007-02-24 11:38:42 |

The service overall is excellent except for some of the staff who probabaly think that foreign guests should be treated better than their filipinos counterparts. As soon as the elevator door opened upon reaching the 18th floor,a familiar aroma of fish being fried is too strong to be ignored. The management should seriously look into this. The breakfast selection is excellent and the staff service at the Heat restaurant is commendable. I give this hotel a four star rating and would surely try another hotel next time (probably the makati shang).

Very niceby Yahoo | 2006-07-14 14:51:05 |

A very nice resort-style hotel. Has a good comp breakfast with an asian-western mix. I like the large pool area for relaxing with a drink later at night or the lobby bar. The rooms are elegant and clean. The Shangri-la is next to the Shangri-la Mall where there's a California Pizza Kitchen if you need a change from the local food. Also, good values at the mall. Take a cab to one of the "Spa" locations ("The Spa") for a relaxing great-value massage. I only saw the Manila nightlife once--it is what it is.

Shangrilaby Yahoo | 2006-06-25 04:15:31 |

My family just spent a few days there. It is in a great location, within walking distance to the Mega Mall and Shangrila Plaza. The breakfast buffet in their restaurant was great for the price. My children and I enjoyed the wide selection of American, Filipino, and Asian food. They also have a great pool area including one for the kids. It is very lush and green. We will probably stay there again.

What a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the amenities and the ambianceby Yahoo | 2005-07-14 11:16:05 |

When we went there the breakfast wasn't that ok. They do not serve much veggies during breakfast and they don't ask if the guests want coffee

Your Home away from Homeby Yahoo | 2005-05-27 23:20:40 |

EDSA Shangri-la is one of the finest hotels in Manila, as well as any major city. I have stayed there many times since 2004. The hotel itself is modern, clean, well maintained, and has a fine layout. The difference which seperates this hotel from others is the staff. They are cordial, attentive to details, and will truly make your stay a good one. Very close to shopping (situated between two huge malls) and near transportation. Great value for a 5-star hotel!

My Angerby Yahoo | 2005-05-16 10:23:35 |

Last March 17-18,2005 my family slept at EDSA Shangri-la and it was our most horrible stay! The Congier staff took 20-30 mins. just to deliver our bag and when they came to our room they gave us a wrong bag.My family couldnt eat much because of the food prices even the food prices at the mini bar I was so much angry and when we checked out our bill was P7,000.Yes my room my comfortable and the service of the employees was nice but the prices were surprising for me and my family.I really want to go back but my stay was very un comfortable

Great place for familyby Yahoo | 2005-04-13 17:18:20 |

This hotel sure made our trip in the Philippines last March unforgettable. Everything was great!! We have three small children with ages 9,5, and 4 years old. I would say this is the best place to stay when you have small children . My family has been in several places in the world and we are proud to say Shangri-la Edsa beats them all. Stay here and you won't have regrets.
