Overview

For over three decades, these ruins of a former Spanish military barracks have served as a highly atmospheric venue for theater-in-the-round productions by PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association). The yearly season runs from November to March, but schedules may change due to weather conditions (all performances are held in the open air).

I have fond memories of this open air theater since my university was just located nearby, walking distance. mapua is also inside Intramuros-the walled city. Plays are done at night obviously. The audience are mostly students from nearby schools who are required to watch a play. That's a hint. After the play, we usually go to malate which is just a jeepney ride away. This is one of the cheap thrills we have in Manila.
