From Manila take the South Super Highway and then exit into Laguna Province to get to Calamba, birthplace of Dr. Jose Rizal. The Rizal family home is now a national historical shrine. Restored by executive order of the late President Quirino, the ancestral home opened to the public in 1950, with displays of memorabilia related to the National Hero and his family. Celebrations are held here every year on Rizal's birthday, June 19, attended by the townspeople and admirers of the Great Malayan, such as members of the Knights of Rizal.
