Overview
Forbes Park came into being in the postwar era, when the wealthy moved out of their former enclaves in Ermita and Malate and set up home here. Throughout Manila there are other such "reservations" for the rich, but Forbes remains at the top of the pecking order. Politicians, tycoons, heads of corporations and the like live here, along with ambassadors of wealthier nations. Heavily guarded, Forbes is open to visitors by invitation only.I lived at 12 Dap Dap Street, North Forbes Park 20yrs ago and felt safe in this gated community I was an expatriate and was fortunate to be able to live in such a prestigious area The house was very spacious as was the garden and with a beautiful big swimming pool We had 3 live in maids, a driver and a gardener and we needed all this help to keep the place clean and tidy and have the convenience of a driver who knew his way around I have just visited this old address of mine after 20years and I actually could not recognize my old house Either it has been replaced or there have been such major changes that I didnt recognize it Makati is such a buzzy place that coming home to 12 Dap Dap was like coming home to ones very own shangrila The pollution from the traffic and the exhausts from the big hotels didnt excape the fall out in prestigious Forbes Park and so the floors had to be cleaned, daily! That is not only swept but also mopped clean Otherwise one had black feet walking on the floors No kidding! So Forbes Park was a safe haven for an expat and as expats we entertained at home instead of going out to restaurants because we had the lovely home with lots of space and we could afford to have imported foods as well as local foods and imported acholol + having the maids to prepare everything so nicely- So there was no motivation to eat outside in public places- So much nicer to entertain at home We rented the house, so it was never really our very own home but we made it our home with our family photos and our choice of furniture etc We enjoyed living in North Forbes Park very much, it was our home away from home and for anyone who is considering living in Manila, Forbes Park is definitely a place where one can feel as much security as is possible in a nice environment with lovely homes and manincured gardens and also close to the amazing Makati shopping and other facilities
I enjoyed living here and coming to the Santuario de San Antonio Church until I had to move to Florida because of her diplomatic assignment. The place is cozy and not that different to where I am now. Security is unmatched and the people who I met were very sophisticated and polite. I miss my friends and hope that I can be an expat who would be assigned there when I get out of school.
One of the best looking neighborhood in the Philippines!! I would love to live here but i dont have enough money.
