Overview
A comfortable two-and-a-half-hour drive south of Manila, Villa Escudero, a former sugarcane plantation, is toured aboard a rustic carabao-drawn carriage. The highlight of a tour is the visit to the museum where an eclectic collection of religious icons, rare coins, costumes, furniture and dioramas of Philippine wildlife can be viewed. The other unique feature is a native buffet lunch by a waterfall where you listen to the cascades and cool your feet in the running water while feasting on native delicacies.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AMAnyone ever interested in traveling to the Philippines has read about Filipino hospitality. No where in the country is it more evident than at Villa Escudero. The Villa staff welcome you like family. Their accomodations are authentic & extremely comfortable and relaxing. The food ranges from the traditional to menu favorites. It offers visitors of all ages something to enjoy. Most appealing are the seemingly endless smiling faces coming from the staff. It is obvious that all who work there have a love and appreciation of the Escudero family, the property and it's history. I have lived in SE Asia & traveled extensively throughout the Asian continent. I will make a point to pass through Villa Escudero each time I transit through Manila.
its ugly. i dont like the atmosphere, value and place. the people are bad. some are boastful.the pool is dirty. the fish are poisonous. the lake is dirty
A place to remember especially with your family. . . we visit villa escudero everytime we have close friends from abroad coming over . . its one unique place to bring people who love nature and quiet place. A place to remember the good old days. You can feel the hospitality of the staff since day one. . Try it and you will love it.
I lost my sister on November 20, 2007, 10 days before my 50th birthday. I went home for her funeral and spent my 50th birthday with my family still mourning the loss. My mom, who wanted to celebrate my 50th in spite of our loss, decided that we should spend my birthday at Villa Escudero. I was expecting only a good lunch with my family but as we entered the place, I felt the calming effects of the surrounding right away and very friendly and warm welcome by staff. My amazement continued when we went to the tour of the exhibits. It was like you were back in time and you felt suspended in mid-air as you listen to the tour guide's stories. It was the best birthday celebration I ever had (minus my sister Dinah but I could felt her presence there in the midst of the calm atmosphere and beautiful sceneries). Of course, the lunch was terrific. This coming April 2008, I will be going back with my husband and we plan to stay there overnight as I would like him to have the same wonderful experience I had. It was indeed a wonderful experience!
I have heard about this place but I cannot afford to get in, until my friends from the States invited us to go with them. We came to stay overnight but the rooms were occupied by the time we arrived (we thought we didn't need to reserve), so we ended up sleeping in our van and a few benches on their parking lot. The following day was full day starting at 8:30 at the museum. Groups of ten or less are guided through the three storey building with collection of all kinds of displays from around the world. (One of the owners is an anthropologist who have collected mementos from all over the world). I like the butterfly collection, but there isn't time to see and take them all in. Before we knew it, it was time for the buffet lunch with the river flowing under the tables. Many children were splashing in the manmade waterfall (they could have made it more natural with big rocks, not just the cement walls). In the afternoon, the resort staff (guides, cooks, drivers, etc..) entertained all the guests with Philippine cultural show with their own music (rondalla). That was superb. We didn't even have time for swimming in the pools, nor for fishing at the lake. After rafting for a few minutes, it was time to go back to Manila. I need another day, or several days to enjoy it all.
we had a feild trip there last year. it was great, specially for tourist. every one was PREETY FRIENDLY, the staff, locals, the escuderos and the carabaos. the carabao ride was one of the best. the staff there were the same people who were dancing, waiting, singing and touring. their sago't gulaman looked like ice tea, but atleast it taste gooooood. i liked the cultural show. the water falls are one of the best attractions. and the coconuts. the long trip there from manila was worth it. just be sure you go to the toilet when going bac home, its usually traffic :D
Very helpful in understanding the Filipino culture with it's play and museum of artifacts and history tellig by the guides. I learned alot about the country and how it is revolving. Much to admire about this country and from the people who work there. They are very proud of there culture and history. The 70-80 different clans in the country I was not aware until my visit there. I think more tourist should really consider this country as place to see and enjoy the nature and history of a beautiful countryside.
I was there with my family. There were six of us, I was with my wife and four children. Actually, my children were all past their teen years. We arrived on November 2 for an overnight stay. (1) We first noticed the staff's friendly smiles, from offering a welcome drink to showing us the way to the cottage. (2) But, first, we went to the Museum. There were priceless items, some too good to be true. (3)In bringing to our cottage, the carabao cart ride was fun particularly the serenade. (4) The cottage (Dahlia) was excellent, considering the price we paid for it. (5) The lunch near the waterfalls was great, with water flowing around our feet. (6)We watched the cultural show during the afternoon. We were amazed that the performers were the caretakers, workers, and staff of the resort. They performed like professionals. (7) The evening buffet dinner was great. (8) Though we were surrounded by trees and near the river, there were no insects inside our cottage. (9) The breakfast buffet was great and so filling. (10) We were brought back to the parking area riding a carabao cart again being serenaded (again). Ten great offers, all fulfilled. Ten on a scale of ten.
i love everything about villa escudero, the place is so relaxing.. it seems like a new paradise on earth.. when you're there, you can't think of any problems, no worries.. it's really a stress free place.. i've been to diffrent places all over the world, and i can say that villa escudero is one of the best... and i know, everyone who had been there would agree to me.. villa escudero, offers its uniqueness... what you can enjoy most is eating while you're in water.. you can really feel you're w/ nature...really superb!!!
Back in January 1997, my husband, son & myself went for an overnight stay in Villa Escudero. As we check in, a drink was offered to us and that's the unforgettable gulaman drink that made me remember VE ten years after. We enjoyed our overnight stay in one of the cottage, really big, clean and quiet and enjoyed the serenade. I am going back there on June 2007 with my relatives and overexaggerating the goodness of the gulaman.. I just hope that I will not disappoint them. So much good things to say, not enough space....
