Hometown of Governor Mayhew and officially incorporated as a town in 1671, this is the main entrance to Martha's Vineyard by sea. Located in the Dukes county, Tisbury is famous for its port. Neighboring localities include Makonikey, Pilot Hill and West. Shops, restaurants and inns close here in the winter but, the Vineyard Haven portis is open all year round.
