Overview

Looking for the blues? Here in the hometown of the blues, this club is a sure bet for the real thing. Live bands take the stage every night, making this small bar a big hit on Beale Street. Recent blues greats who have played here include Muddy Waters' former sidekick Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin. Look closely for the neon sign, because it's easy to miss this little gem on a street crowded with clubs and flashing neon signs. Great for the night, or a stop while bar hopping.

Well I been workin' in Memphis ...by Yahoo | 2007-09-30 00:54:37 |

I worked in Memphis 2 weekends a month for a year and a half, so I got to know my way around pretty good! I "lived" at the Radisson Hotel, 2 blocks from Beale, but being from Boston, had always been a big blues fan (or since many rock & roll guitar virtuosos' started dying in the early 70's anyways)! Now, part of my job would be to wine and dine the company's clients after hours, which there are many great restaurants, clubs, etc. to do so all around Memphis. However, when I could cut loose from my guests or let someone else do the "schmoozing," I would head directly over to the Black Diamond! This is a REAL Blues Club! Great sound, good size dance floor, nice folks and of course good bands = a lot of fun!! You'd always find a good time at the B.D., like the weekend I walked in to the middle of Rufus Thomas' 80th B'day party! Doesn't get much better than that-check it! Karinski
