For a healthy dose of Golden Oldies ambience, visit this South Beach favorite. You will feel like you have been transported 40 years back in time. For 48 years 11th Street Diner was actually located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. In 1992 it was dismantled and transported to Miami Beach, where it received an enthusiastic reception. In addition to diner staples like burgers, fries and great milkshakes, the restaurant serves a variety of salads, cold sandwiches, chicken and pasta dishes.

The Eleventh Street Diner, an authentic diner with the look of a railroad car, used to be one of my favorite eating places on South Beach, with its friendly efficient waitstaff, varied menu, large helpings and a reasonable selection of vegetarian dishes, available at any time of the day or night. Alas, no more. A change of ownership resulted in other changes. Why didn't the new management work on the principle

We live in Boca Raton, Fl. and do South Beach a few times a month We have dined at the 11th Street Diner several times and have always found their meals to be first quality, their portions more than generous, the service excellent and you cannot beat the prices. They rival the trendier cafes on Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive.
