Overview

The unique and picturesque water park, Venetian Pools, is truly a one-of-a-kind attraction. This public swimming pool, chiseled out of a coral rock quarry in the 1920s, looks like a natural rock formation, except that no natural rock formation could be so perfectly suited to human enjoyment. This historical landmark is a work of art with its gushing fountains, coral caves and waterfalls. The 820,000 gallons of cool, refreshing spring water are replaced daily. Tours are conducted here. The park opens daily at 10 am.

Must See in Miamiby Yahoo | 2006-11-13 19:41:54 |

The Venetian Pool is absolutely awsome. It's an old quarry that they've turned into a beautiful freshwater pool. There is no salt and no chemicals, the drain the pool every night to keep it nice. The Good: Everything. The water is beautiful the sand is nice. It's a great place to spend a day. The Bad: It's kind of hard to find. Both times I've gone I ended up driving around a bit to locate it.

24 yrs later, still dreaming of it!by Yahoo | 2006-10-14 08:26:07 |

I grew up in Miami, FL and always loved going to this pool. I have fond memories of it--everything from the sandy beach, to the cool caves you and a friend could explore. It is very unique and beautiful; the photos do not do it justice. I will surely go there again if I ever re-visit Florida again!

i love it and will definatly returnby Yahoo | 2006-07-31 10:04:28 |

I loved the venetian pool because of the fresh water and rocks. It is like an oasis. Its cheap to get, its really quiet and peaceful, the setting is idilic, and if you want that beach effect without all the saltwater you can sit on the sand situated by the pool. There are loads of places to explore there and everywhere you go you will get to a different place. there are caves and waterfalls. the experience was amazing and i would definatly recommend it to others as it is child safe but by no means boring. The entry fee was cheap and you could stay the whole day and the staff were very pleasant. There were little islands to go and sit on and rock steps down to the pool palm trees coral hideaways and caves to explore and a cafe and it was all luxurious. Even paris hilton has been there. Its brilliant. Highly recommended!

i am a 13 year old boy and i just want to say that i went to this pool for summer camp in my school and this is a very nice pool to swim. there is no chlorine in the water, so i like that and they have a cafeteria that sells good curly fries. i paid to $2 dollars to get in for 2 hours.

A fun place to go and swim, hide in the caves or just jump from the sides.

Way Overratedby Yahoo | 2005-01-24 03:15:14 |

Not worth the drive. It's just a swimming pool...looks like a hotel pool. Very disappointing.

Venetian Pool is a jewelby Yahoo | 2004-12-24 16:59:29 |

City Founder George Merrick turned this rock pit into a one-of-a-kind enchanting pool, complete with waterfalls, caves, a beach, palm island, lush greenery and buildings that are remniscent of Venice. Located in a residential neighborhood, the pool can be a challenge to find, but well worth the effort. They drain the water (800,000 gallons) almost every day.

Broken Mansion!by Yahoo | 2004-11-08 01:44:08 |

I was attracted by the rating and the review and come up to be a total disappointment! The place is difficult to find. There are lots of granite stones (looks like tomb stones) along the street corner in that area. I thought it's name of the families living in but actually a street sign. Also, there are no sign in front of the Pool as well as no sign for entrance. After 20 minutes of searching, asking people at the golf course, finally we found it. It's only a small mansion compares to what it was written on the travel guide. Even though the falls and the landscape is nice, I don't see anything special as you can expect to see the same landscape from "every" millionaires' house in Miami. To add to the disappointment, the mansion is old and lack of renovation. You can see broken tiles on the roof and dirts and cracks on the concrete wall from outside. It seems I know a lot of details inside, but actually I just looked from the outside. Afterall, I couldn't get in as there's a sign saying the Pool is for Private Use at that time. Even though I can, why bother to pay $8 just to get in, I rather buy a beer in the hot weather of Miami.
