Overview
This lighthouse, located in Monterey County, has been operating since 1855, making it the oldest operating one on the West Coast. Aside from its rich history, it offers spectacular views from its vantage point. The trek to get there is lovely, too, and well worth the huffing and puffing that some may experience if they are a little out of shape. While you are in the charming and beautiful town of Pacific Grove, visit the Museum of Natural History.Open Hours
Mo from 01:00 PM to 04:00 PM, Th to Su from 01:00 PM to 04:00 PMThis was an interesting place to visit, and the husband and wife team that was there to give you the historical and technical scoop on lighthouses was great. It is small and I'm not sure we would have made a huge effort to visit if we weren't already in PG, but if you are it is a great way to go back in time for an hour or so. Beautiful location so walk along the coastal path from PG or to Asilomar and you'll have a fabulous afternoon of sightseeing.
The light house is a landmark, but it is not the main attraction. It is the breathtaking, rocky, wave breaking , beautiful coast line all around the area that makes this a wonderful spot.
This lighthouse is worth checking out. Free admission is very nice, but they would like you to donate. There are some downsides, like it is a small place, its only open for 3 hours and you can't go into the light dome. But free admission and guided tour can't be beat.
