Overview
This district, now a part of the city of Montreal, was once its own city. It benefited from the construction of monumental Beaux-Arts-style buildings, many of which still exist today. It has recently witnessed a re-birth, thanks in part to the Olympic Park. A walking tour of the district should include the Maisonneuve Market. Other notable buildings include the magnificent public baths on Morgan Avenue and the Denise-Pelletier Theatre.
the new Plateau?Caution tourists very dangerous
wow... obviously you did'nt travel a lot... Hochelaga is one of the coolest place in Montreal, the new Plateau some say, they call it Ho-Ma now, kind of northern So-Ho, you can find emergent artists, good and innovative restaurants, cafe, street art and great pieces of history.. the face of this part of the city is changing for good...
This is a great place for a couple of pictures, but look out for Drug dealers and and street gangs because this is not the most safe area in town.
