Overview

This museum and exhibition hall is dedicated to raising environmental and ecological awareness among its visitors. Housed in the world's largest geodesic dome, which is one of few remaining structures from Expo '67, it offers four levels of guided discovery. The bottom level examines water as both "Source of Life" and "Source of Delight", the Connections Hall showcases multimedia presentations focusing on environmental protection, and the Visions Hall affords an incredible 360 degree view of Montreal.

Open Hours

Mo to Su from 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM

Great Place!by Yahoo | 2008-08-28 15:12:49 |

First off, this placce is a bit of a drive from Montreal, but people usually come to se the Saint Helene Island anyways. It is a great museum, with fantastic views of the city and of Mount Royal. Also, we were lucky enough to visit on a monday, when admission is free. I am not sure how long that lasts, but it was great.

Good for the whole familyby Yahoo | 2006-09-28 16:36:25 |

There was enough to do - particularly in the water room; the movie on the St. Lawrence River was very cool and even my 1 year old had fun. There is a great educational section on Buckminster Fuller and beautiful photography. If you take the Metro, you get a good discount and once you are on the island, there is plenty of nice walking to do as well. I would recommend it.

Not So Amazingby Yahoo | 2006-05-02 15:00:30 |

I belive this is more overated, it is not as good, you wait for hours and are there for only 10 mintues.Do not even bother thinking of going there, let them make it better. Not only that but it is boring and thier rules are unbareable.

Worth a visit for young ones!by Yahoo | 2006-04-22 22:31:23 |

This place has a bit of history (built in 1969) and a bit of learning activities for growing up kids. There are other places and a garden around on island to spend a day if you are going there in summer. Bit expensive for what it offers inside.

A great experience for everyoneby Yahoo | 2005-10-03 01:17:31 |

This place is sweet! It's one of the best zoos I have seen, and it is completely indoors. It really feels like you're walking through the actual habitats of these animals. I'd definitely recomend visiting the biosphere if you're visiting Montreal

Day in Natureby Yahoo | 2005-09-26 22:11:16 |

It's quite the facility. you just can't run through and look at the animals like you're at a zoo. you have to stop and look and search and it lends to a strong sense of atmosphere i feel is lost in a zoo, it breaks down that sense of separation.

A Good View of the city, but......by Yahoo | 2005-09-10 19:20:58 |

We were very excited at the prospect of visiting this place, but it was quite a letdown (we had more fun on the subway ride). The admission fee is high for what you get - a few interactive exhibits for kids (several were broken), a really nice view of the city from the top floor, and one other exhibit room. The best part of the whole thing was my son being able to send a pc postcard with his photo on the front flag. If you are at all on a budget I would recommend taking the subway ride from the city and just walk around outside.

Wow, just wow!by Yahoo | 2005-08-27 18:12:18 |

Not what you expectby Yahoo | 2005-08-05 17:25:03 |

The bioshere was sort of short, and definitelly not worth the car-ride over to Montr

did not like it at allby Yahoo | 2005-07-05 19:13:02 |

what a bad experience, do not go there, nothing to see at all, and you have to pay for that
