Overview

Director and actor Valerii Beliakovich, founded the Iugo-Zapad Theatre in 1977. Right away, the troupe took up occupation in a building which they then made into a 120-seat theatre. The repertoire includes 40 plays by classic Russian and Western playwrights: Gogol, Chekhov, Gorky, Shakespeare, Moliere and the rest. The credo of the actors is "theatre is a celebration, there is no place for boredom." With an eye on that uplifting slogan, the director pays close attention to musical and lighting effects, innovative costumes and expressive performance.
