Overview

The concert hall was constructed between 1938-1940, and bears the socialist-realist marks of that era. The hall was originally intended as an avant-garde theatre, but after the death by torture of the director-to-be during the Red Terror, the arena was transformed into a concert hall. Today, it is primarily the home to the Moscow State Philharmonic. The concert hall, also presents types of performances including dance.
