Lying to the left after entering the Kremlin via Trinity Gate, the Arsenal was built on the instructions of Peter the Great as a storehouse and workshop for his burgeoning stock of military hardware. The cannons you see lining the building's perimeter were captured from the defeated army of Napoleon. There is a grand total of 800 of them. The Arsenal lies inside the 'government zone' of the Kremlin and is not open to the public.
