Overview

The Cherry Grove Fishing Pier extends 985 feet into the Atlantic Ocean so there is plenty of room for fishing for both serious and casual fishing enthusiasts. For those who don't care to fish, there is a 2-tier viewing deck which provides a magnificent view of the ocean and surrounding area. The biggest tiger shark ever caught was caught at this pier. Other fishing records include a second place king, a first-place sheeps head, and a record whiting.

Nice resort and fishing pierby Yahoo | 2008-09-22 01:59:27 |

Just got back from a 3 day business trip to Myrtle Beach. I stayed at the Prince Resort and fished on the Cherry Grove Pier. The Prince Resort is new, and nicely run facility, which also operates the pier. I only paid $70 a night plus taxes = $82. Can't beat that for ocean front in September. The rooms are very nice and laid out well for small efficiency condos. I would recommend this for a family vacation anytime of the year. Even the cheapest marsh view rooms have a great shot to the ocean and marsh. The pier is OK, but nothing to write home about. Springmaid Pier (S Myrtle Beach) is better, and Folly Beach Pier (Charleston) is the best! The Cherry Grove Pier is a little misleading. The pier store is small and lacks character and supplies. It appears to have been put together by someone who never has been on a pier. Their website is better than being there in person. The $1.50 walk on the pier fee is nuts! They would easily more than make up for the fee, if they expanded and supplied the store. But, you will have a good time fishing or enjoying the beach. I would definitely go back.

Loved itby Yahoo | 2008-07-17 15:29:37 |

My family and I really enjoyed walking on the pier. We didnt mind paying the $1.50 bc that money probaly pays for maintinaing the pier. I found out it was privatly owned, so $1.50 isnt much, plus you can leave and came back to walk again later the same day.

Nice little strollby Yahoo | 2008-05-14 14:29:33 |

We went to the Pier just for the experience of walking out onto the ocean. It costs us a $1.50 a piece to walk out, but that same $1.50 lasts all day long, so if you want to visit later that same day you don't have to pay again. While out on the pier we got to watch a few guys trying their luck at surfing on one side. It was nice to get that kind of view of them, and not having to watch from the beach. There were a couple of dozen people fishing this day. Even seen a guy actually bring one in. So there are good fishing opportunities here.

a FISHING pierby Yahoo | 2008-05-05 20:35:09 |

It used to be a great place to fish until someone put a hotel in the parking lot and the teenagers use it as a gathering place to shout obscenities and run up and down the pier and cause traffic jams from one end to the other for the people who are there to fish. The manager should stop anyone from entering without fishing equipment.

This Is A Fishing Pier - Not A Walking Trailby Yahoo | 2007-10-15 10:46:16 |

All Of The People Complaining About Having TO Pay Just To Walk On The Cherry Grove Pier Need To Remember One Thing.......This Is A Fishing Pier, Not A Walking Trail.........you Can Walk For Free Anywhere But This Pier Is For Fishing And I Might Ad That Is A Great Fishing Pier.......Keep Your Rugrats Out Of My "Fishing Way" And Let Them Walk On The Beach - For Free - And Let Me Fish In Peace Without Having To Dodge Your Spoiled Kids........thanks And Happy Fishing

my fav pier to fish onby Yahoo | 2007-09-06 13:09:56 |

I liked it because you always get a good spot to fish and relax not to mention the fishing is out standing plus the pier house is a good place to shop and get a snack

Terrible Pier. Terrible employees.by Yahoo | 2007-08-09 16:08:58 |

The worst thing about this pier is the love of money that pervades management. The employees are rude and the only thing that matters is the money. The fishing is poor, but even worse are the fake posters who are probably pier owners or employees giving this place five stars. Run to Wilmington, Holden Beach, or MB. You will only feel ripped off here.

pierby Yahoo | 2007-07-23 15:45:34 |

it was clean and nice however it was a little pricey for fishing. but then so were the other piers. not worth the money. and i really dont think any of the piers should charge you just to walk out on them. that is a way to run off business.

ALL ABOUT THE $by Yahoo | 2007-04-13 12:44:40 |

THIS USED TO BE ONE OF THE BETTER MYRTLE BEACH AREA ATTRACTIONS. I GREW UP GOING TO THE NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, AND GOING TO THE PIER IN CHERRY GROVE WAS ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE THINGS TO DO, BUT , IN THE PAST 7 OR 8 YEARS, THE OWNERS OR NEW MANAGEMENT ONLY SEE A DOLLAR SIGN AND NOTHING ELSE. THEY RUINED THE EXPERIENCE FOR PEOPLE THAT USED TO GO IN THE PAST. I WILL NEVER FISH OFF OF THAT PIER AGAIN. IT IS BY FAR OVER-RATED, AND THEY OVERCHARGE FOR EVERYTHING THAT IS ENVOLVED WITH THE PROPERTY. I WOULD BY FAR RECCOMEND ANY OTHER LOCATION IN THE AREA!!!

This is a PIER!by Yahoo | 2007-03-05 02:09:19 |

This is a pier, a very nice pier, most people like to fish and alot like to just come walk out on the ocean. I have spent many a day on this pier most of the time I catch fish but I have been known to be a great fish feeder. Sure you can fish free on the beach or you can rent a boat. If you like to fish like myself, well from this pier, you can meet alot of interesting people who can share many a tale about this pier!
