Overview
One of the newest and largest aquariums in Japan, this one divides its aquatic life into five different ecosystems representative of the Pacific Ocean. Also involved in scientific research, including the breeding of sea turtles and other aquatic life, the aquarium's natural exhibits are heavily supported with multimedia displays. The underwater tunnel and the penguin exhibit are especially popular. The aquarium is located at the port's Garden Pier along with many other attractions. Call to know the open hours.I was a little aprehensive before goin o the aquarium due to prevously visiting UK aquariums and finding them quite plain!! Nagoya aquarium is amazing place, especially the display area with the killer whale and many dolphins!!the place is really well maintained and organisation around the aquarium is great!!education at the aquarium is great along side most other museums i visited while in japan!!
The Port of Nagoya Aquarium is a large and well thought out attraction. The dolphin tanks are the star attraction, along with one Orca (killer whale) and a few Beluga whales. But don't discount the rest of the exhibits. They have an excellent penguin room, some breeding sea turtles, and enough fish to keep a sushi chef busy for a long time. While it is a little on the expensive side at 2000 yen to get in, the price is well worth it for the spectacular sea creatures you will see inside.
The aquarium of Nagoya is certainly not the most interesting attractions in Nagoya but it may be interesting to go there if you have children. The most interesting part is the dolphins tanks where you can see the dolphins swims from bottom of the tanks: you can see them making tricks and bubbles... You can also see the spectacle from under the pool. The penguins tank is also one of the most interesting part. There are several kinds of penguins. You can see them swimming and jumping out. There are many other tanks of exotic and less exotic fishes and fascinating jellyfishes...Check the site: www.nagoyaaqua.jp/english/index.html... where you can check the correct prices (2000JPY for adults)
