Overview

Once a quiet fishing village, today this pleasant walk along the seashore is one of the city's liveliest districts, filled with luxury hotels and exclusive restaurants. A stroll along Via Nazario Sauro, Via Partenope and Via Caracciolo takes you to the moorings where local fishing boats are transformed each morning into small floating markets selling freshly landed fish. Crystal clear water flows from the Leone fountain and in beautiful Piazza Sannazzaro, the Sirena fountain is a reminder of mythical siren Partenope, whose tomb, according to local legend, marks the site on which Naples was founded.

This is another favorite place of mine!!! Tourists and Locals alike love to come to this place and take walks on Sunday afternoon!! With the historical buildings behind you, the Bay of Naples and the Islands in and Mt. Vesuvius this is one of the nicest parts of the city. But your never far from crazy Naples. If you have lots of energy you will love fun loving Naples!!! :)

A walk through the wonderfulby Yahoo | 2006-05-13 17:48:09 |

walking by the sea of napoli (il Lungomare di via Caracciolo) is an extraordinary experience. Exspecially during the spring you could see the Vesuvius in front of you, the Sorrento coast...and, in the cleareset days, the shape of the isle of Capri. in the middle of your walk you will find the ancient Castel Dell'Ovo (the Castle of The Egg) an old fortress placed on the ruins of the "villa" of the Roman General Lucullus. Neapolitans and tourists use to walk there in saturday's and sunday's morning. On the other side of the street you could find many restaurant's and pizzeria (and the chaotic atmosphere of napoli, of course).
