Reading the review from the person who stayed the same week as I did, I'm surprised that we had such a different experience with the customer service. Maybe they were just busy and we got them at a bad time... My family and I stayed at this hotel three nights. The lobby is nice and we were greeted with fresh baked cookies. The hotel was clean and the rooms were a decent size. They have a great continental breakfast that includes waffles, danishes, fruit, bagels, OJ, coffee, and cereals, but the breakfast area has very limited seating available. They also provide a public computer with internet access which was also located in the breakfast area. Unfortunately, that computer was down when I attempted to use it 2 of the 3 days of our stay. The hotel is a block away from Pier 17 and is in a great location if your sight-seeing keeps you on that side of Manhattan. We found the location inconvenient for what was on our itinerary as we spent the majority of our time in mid and upper Manhattan. My last day at this hotel was disappointing - we had two large families in the rooms next to and across from us that were very loud late at night and then early in the evening. And... this hotel is "pet friendly" and one of our neighbors had a dog that barked for almost 2 hours non-stop! We found that the front desk hotel staff were very un-friendly and un-helpful, as if they were being put out... almost to the point of being rude. We were offered a "car" this morning to LaGuardia at $45 plus tolls. When we inquired about possibly taking a cab - we were told that with all the traffic because of the weekend and the additional tolls to LaGuardia - it would be cheaper to take the "car". We were to LaGuardia in 15 minutes with no traffic and no tolls to be paid. $49 later (before the tip and not the $45 we were told)... we felt mislead and felt like maybe the hotel was in "kahoots" with the "car" company. We just didn't feel like they were looking out for us.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel and loved it! We would highly recommend it. The staff were awesome and very accomodating. I've never stayed at a hotel where they've been so nice. The continental breakfast was a bonus. It was always stocked with bagels, waffles, crossiants etc. The rooms are very clean and if you get a room with a balcony, it provides a beautiful view. The room was always stocked with water and if you needed more front desk always provided more. The hotel is located at a great spot. My husband and I loved to hang out in the area for dinner and for just a relaxing night to walk along the water front. Overall, great hotel and great price!!
When you just need some time away from your significant other its a wonderful place there are a lot of good restaurants close and the porn channels are great. A big choice of lesbian, Hardcore, and some fetish stuff. What a great weekend!!!
I love the decor. The view is wonderful if you can score a room with a balcony. This is very reasonable and near fun city "stuff". When I lived in NYC and wanted a hotel "break" or when I had a roommate and others would visit and we wanted a hotel, this was the "old faithful". Some staff had an attitude for a while, but if you can get passed the young, naive unreasonable snoots now and again, the managment and those who have worked there for years stand out as the true "stars"
I loved the location. The rooms were extremely clean and tidy. No frills but extremely comfortable and cozy. A great place to crash after a long day/night on the town. Perfect for a weekend getaway. The value is amazing for this hotel.
We have stayed at this hotel several times, mainly because our daughter attends Pace University, two blocks away. The Seaport area is spectacular, especially at night. Hotel staff was accommodating, room was very clean. Corner double room was the best, with a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Would definitely stay there again.
The thing what irritated was the fact though we paid the travel-agency in advance we had to use our creditcard again because they didn't receive a payment yet. We ordered a double-bedroom but got it after a day in a single bed-room because of a mistake in the reservation (they claimed the agency made the mistake) Some of the personell was not always polight, requests were 'forgotten' a few times. In general, the hotel is ok. located closely to several sights. Good price and very clean. (Tnx again to the cleaning-personell)
This is a very good and reasonable hotel in New York. It just a walking distance to SeaPort and NYSE. The room was very clean. The staff should be more friendly. When we got there to check-in, I could not find anyone to help me for the luggages. I explained to the manager that my husband just had a surgery and could not carry heavy things. He said I have to help myself for the luggages, because no one was there to help me. Well, the next day, when we checked out, the front desk was able to find a gentleman to help me to get a taxi and luggages. The breakfast was very reasonable and plenty of food to eat. I would stay here again if I visit NY.
If all you want is a decent, clean, safe, and fairly inexpensive place to stay while in NYC, then this is it. It is far better than decent. The room was a good size, the place was spotless, and it is in a nice place to catch the subway or walk to Battery Park (Statue of Liberty). I've never considered vacationing in NYC due to price, but this place makes me really want to go back. I stayed for a business meeting and was pleased with the basic amenities.
The Fulton Fish market moved to Brooklyn...so don't worry about last posters comment. This place is in the best location...right at the Seaport! You can walk to everything and to the subway, too!
