Avoid W Hotel Union Square at all Costs!!!by Yahoo | 2009-09-09 21:08:46 |

recently stayed at the W New York Union Square. As a Preferred Gold Member, I am extremely disappointed. First of all, the room was very tired and dirty. I had to request 4 times for a roll-away to be brought up to my room. The staff at the reception desk were very rude as well when I inquired why I had to request the roll-away 4 times. The Ice machine on the 7th floor did not work, and the delivery person was rude when they had to bring ice up to the room. We requested Champaign glasses, and they brought tumbler glasses and stated that they didn’t have any left. The elevator took 20 minutes to get us in the morning. The over-all property was very tired and dirty. I asked for 2 glasses of orange juice in the morning, and they brought up 2 tiny glasses of orange juice, and charged me $27.00!!!! Again, they were very rude when delivering. My cordless phone did not work at all, and my attempts to rectify this were ignored. We arrived before 3 Pm on September 5th, and the front desk said that they would call as soon as my room was ready. They never called me; as a SPG Gold member, I have never been treated like this. I used a lot of my points to stay here, and I am completely disgusted that this would even be a W property!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I Know Why...by Yahoo | 2008-07-06 18:58:16 |

I finally figured it out. Here's the strategy: 1. Dim the lights to almost total darkness so guests cannot see how bad it really is 2. Hire an arrogant, arrogant staff and provide NO service 3. Charge $500 an night 4. Slap a "W" on the front This place was terrible. If you want a clean, light, service-oriented hotel in a great location, then please, please do not stay here.

Gross!!by Yahoo | 2008-03-19 15:06:59 |

The hotel was dark, run-down and sad looking. They blast really loud music at all hours in the lobby. The rooms were ok - the bathrooms were great - I heard they were left over from the previous hotel and not part of the new(ish) design. The staff was pretty good, but they act a little dodgy when you are checking in - the price never seems to be what you were quoted online. Overall I would avoid this place like the plague. - And the lobby decor is really funny. It would make a great entrance to a haunted mansion. Avoid this place and stay somewhere quiet and clean.

You've got to be kidding!by Yahoo | 2007-05-07 18:42:45 |

I stayed here many, many times and never had a problem. Welcome desk, food, Whatever whenever - they all were great at one time. But W must had fired all the good people who wroked there! Welcome desk didn't answer their phone during the night; Whatever whenever was where-ever?; and food - again kicked me back to Whatever - which was obviously wherever! Better get some good help again - I won't be back again!

Their saying; "Whatever you want, whenever you want it". Couldn't be more true. They got me every restaurant reservation I wanted. The rooms are very cozy, and the staff is so friendly!

location was perfectby Yahoo | 2006-11-25 21:08:06 |

The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Great hotelby Yahoo | 2005-12-14 16:49:46 |

Right in Union Square and within 20 mins walking distance to Soho. Large rooms, clean hotel, great bar and restaurant. If you're looking for a nice hotel in a less frantic, but great nyc location, this is a sure bet.
