Overview

On the opening night of this famous music house, Tchaikovsky conducted and New York's elite waited in line to enter. Carnegie Hall quickly became an international Mecca of classical music, attracting the brightest stars from Bernstein to Toscanini. Today, over a hundred years later, top orchestras and modern music share this venue. The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa and Frank Sinatra have all headlined here. Many musicians claim it has the best acoustics in the world. Tours are available during the day. Call for information. And you don't have to 'practice, practice, practice' to get here either!

I sang in Carnegie Hall with my choir, the Portland Symphonic Girlchoir (and several other choirs). There were two other groups of choirs, but everybody said we were the best! It was an experience I'll never forget, along with the friends I made on that trip to New York.

The sound is incredible and I can't wait to go back and play in April with the Barron Collier Orchastra.!! Anyone who likes to listen to music would love to go to Carnegie. When I went with my family I went in the winter it was quite cold. I'm now going in the spring so i really don't know which season would be better.

That was an excellent display of music lore. The artsits are five-star and the accomodations are unbelievable. I sat a ways away, but I felt like I was in the front row. You have to go, it is unbelievable.

What a Great Duoby Yahoo | 2005-07-16 13:33:56 |

We recently went to Carnegie Hall to hear Evgeny Kissin and James Levine play Schubert Sonatas. Words can't really review how we felt - but we were in the presence of true artists - the players, the composer, and the superb acoustics of the hall which makes this place THE place in New York City to hear chamber music. (My wife found the event from a very useful site www.opus1classical.com which lists classical music events across the world).
