Brooklyn Bridge was built to connect the island of Manhattan to Brooklyn. At almost 1,600 feet, at the time of its completion in 1883, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Its architecture remains a wondrous sight in the New York cityscape. After dark, the twin Gothic towers and strong steel cables make a striking silhouette against the night sky. Walking across the bridge is a huge thrill, particularly if you start from the Brooklyn side and view the Manhattan skyline on your stroll across the East River.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AMi loved everything about itL!!!! its just the best ever!!!!
This was a first for me. Being born in New york and have visited many times. I had never done this. It was a truly awesome experience! The views are incredible! Your so taken aback by the New York Skyline- you don't even mind all the walking.
The experience of walking across that entire bridge was absolutely great!!! As a kid I grew up watching Saturday Night Fever & Staying Alive and to actually walk across that bridge that Tony (J. Travolta) walked across was marvelous. If you're a fan of those two movies you have to walk across that bridge!
This is one of my all time favorite walks in either direction, at any time of the day and in any weather. I can't believe it's free! I do about 200 hikes a year all over the World and I am never disappointed by this walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Try also the Williamsburg Bridge (but don't waste your time and money at the immigrant museum in Orchard St. Walk instead around Chinatown or Williamsburg and see what new arrivals to the US do to survive. Why does NY have so many shoe repair shops compared to DC? 'Cos this is what its new arrivals in NY can do!) I walk the World and rate this walk as world class.
It´s perfect: good, beautiful and free¡¡¡ You can go alone or with your family. Always opened and offers a great view¡¡ You can see all kind of people doing all kind of regular things...really worthy.
it was definitely a very very long walk from manhattan to brooklyn but it was worth it! the hot sun did not stop us from crossing the bridge by foot. we had great shots and we had fun! it is a must do when you visit NY
I did not do the official tour, but my kids appreciated the view and magnificent constructional feat and so did we! We got to view the bridge from the stanten Ils ferry as well as close by when we traveled across.
We went at night and the view was amazing. New York's skyline is so beautiful. I would recommend this to all tourists so they can experience the true atmosphere of New York at night.
This bridge connects me to my two favorite places in NYC. Brooklyn and lower Manhattan for the last few years that's all I seem to need.
the view is so great i didnt wanted to leave. you can see alomst every thng in New York. you can see the statue of liberty, where twin tower was and all those amusing places are. its the largest bridge i have ever been over and im proud to have gone over it before.
