Overview
Right in the heart of Manhattan stands this oasis of rolling pastures and gardens, stretching from Midtown to Harlem. It was created in 1857 by Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux. These days walkers, rollerbladers, bikers and joggers compete for space. Lovers meet at Bethseda Fountain on Bethseda Terrace. To the north, others wonder at the mystery of Belvedere Castle. Nearby is the Delacorte Theater, where you can watch plays in the summer. It blends so easily with the Manhattan environment that it is difficult to guess that it is totally man made. Across the park lies a charming Central Park Wildlife Conservation Center, and children of all ages love the restored carousel.Open Hours

I FINALLY found the the mythical zoo! It's small, but very cute. The bird house is best...
I went on Memorial day! The weather was excellent. Brought a hot dog from a vendor on the street and sat on a bench & people watched. Loved it! F.Y.I. Great for a date! can take a picnic and sit on the lawn. Very romantic.
The Central Park is a great place to visit. It looks really beautiful, and it is a great place to chill out and get some peace in an otherwise very busy city. What is nice about the park is that each section of it has its own feel and look. Especially the southern part, although also the busiest part, looks very nice. Really: a must see!
We were in Central Park on April 16 & 17 2008. We stayed in Central Park and had a fabulous 2 days. While walking thru the Park on a lovely afternoon, my mother who has some heart issues tired out. One of the men who gives rides on a bike offered to give us a ride. Mom saw a sign that read $35.00. I have ridden on one of these bikes in downtown Baltimore for $20.00 plus a tip. The rider was informative about the history of NY and Central Park. At the end of our ride, which was delightful, he said it would be $125.00 plus gratuity. Our fault for not asking the price,or making an assumption. Wait for a cab or rest until you can get to your destination. We did take a 1 hour tour around the island by boat that was $25.00 per person. We now know what its like to raped in Central Park.
I liked central Park. There was so much to see and do, and it was also really close to all sorts of sights. Don't go to Imagine Mosaic. It's a waste of time, and isn't what you really thought it would be (Strawberry Fields). Other that that It's great
it was awsome,i loved taking pictures.if you like photography you would love to go here and take pictures.i would love to go back and visit.
The main suggestion I can make, is plan to spend an entire day in Central Park, if you can, or at least spend a couple of hours several different days. There is no way to see all that you want to see, but we spent an entire day in Central Park and enjoyed the scenery, the Children's zoo, and the Boathouse restaurant (which I highly recommend for great food, but especially the view)!!! Skip the horse ride and just enjoy a peaceful walk!
It was great. I loved it. I'm a native but I actually never went there until this year (in the summer). It was beautiful. They had people laying around and relaxing. The food was awesome! It was really huge. I suggest you have to come here! It's a nice place to come with friends to relax and hang out. It's a beautiful attraction. It's The Nature part of the Concrete Jungle.
A huge park to get lost in! You can walk for hours surrounded by trees and squirrls. There's the Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art which is beautiful. You can find people selling portraits, photographs, T-Shirts and books. If it's hot you can take a blanket/towel and have a picnic or just lay down on the grass.
central park is the best,it is so pretty whatever the season,it is a calming relaxing place in the middle of an absolutley buzzing city.ive been there 3 times already and am going back end of september 07,and i cant wait!!! you can just walk round it for miles, you can ice skate,go to the zoo or just people watch for hours on end and do plenty more.it is beautiful.
