Overview

The Stock Exchange's present home on Wall Street did not open until 1903, but trading in stocks began well before that. By the time this building became its headquarters, the Exchange had already been in existence for more than a hundred years. Today, people trade hundreds of millions of shares electronically as well as by the floor broker system. Visitors can watch the action on the floor from a viewing gallery. Multi-media exhibits help explain the frenzy below. Admission is free.

Open Hours

Mo to Fr from 09:30 AM to 04:00 PM

Largest stock exchange in the World and very exciting! VISITORS ARE NOT ALLOWED since 9/11! You guys need to update the info or something. Lots of tourists just stand outside and stare at the security guys. Maybe they are hoping to get a glimpse at the brokers??? LOL I wish there were still tours... Anyway, it's still nice to sit by the building, watch the NYSE guys passing by, sip some starbucks and discuss DJI, S&P, NASDAQ, bulls and bears :)))))))) photo of NYSE can be found in my profile.

The building isnt open to public anymore (after 9/11 i think). But could get some nice snaps in front of the building. And could walk around the building.

Beautiful Building - from the outsideby Yahoo | 2005-10-01 19:03:51 |

Unfortunately, you can't go inside the Stock Exchange anymore. In fact, they have it all partitioned off. Across the street at one of the buildings (I'm not sure what it was) they even had guards with machine guns - I'm not kidding! We thought something terrible had happened but they said that is how it is every day. The building is beautiful from the outside, though, and worthy of taking a few pictures.
