Overview

Lady Liberty, representative of freedom to the world, shines bright in New York Harbor. Created by Frenchman Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the Statue was a gift from France to the United States. Now, visitors can view the inside of the statue through a glass ceiling, and capture a better image of Lady Liberty through the enhanced lighting and video system surrounding the statue. Visitors can walk onto the observation deck to see New York City and its Harbor. With a torch and a book in her hands, Lady Liberty has generously welcomed immigrants and visitors for over a century.

    Glad I got to see it!by Yahoo | 2010-01-03 00:09:19 |

it was a wonderful experience. I've tried to go three times before but it was never successful. YOU NEED TO BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE. It saves you time in line. We even got to go to the crown which just reopened this past 4th of July!!!

    Buy reserve tickets online to avoid lines!by Yahoo | 2009-07-24 16:27:44 |

This is a must see if you are going to be in the NYC area. I was informed by another traveler to buy my tickets online and was I ever glad I did. If you purchase "reserve tickets" online you get to skip past a long line and go directly to security. They are the same price however you have to say what time you will be there for it to be a reserve ticket. I used the computer at my hotel right before we left and reserved for the next time slot and then walked past over 200 people in line right to the front. The prices are the same, but you only have a short wait before boarding the ferry maybe 20 minutes compared to hours. A lot of people had purchased the NYC pass which has tickets to a lot of different sites these tickets will place you in the long line and would not recommend buying this unless there is a lot of sites you are going to be visiting. When you are ready to leave however be prepared to wait. We waited 1/2 hour for the ferry to take us back not bad being this is such a popular site.

If you want to see the Statue of Liberty cheaply.by Yahoo | 2008-08-09 12:07:59 |

Whenever I take family to NYC to see the Statue of Liberty, instead of waiting in all the security line, I take them on the staton island ferry, its only a buck or two and you get a boat ride and go past the statue.

    Don't wait in Lineby Yahoo | 2008-04-13 04:44:25 |

If you really want to visit the statue buy your tickets in advance. The experience was a total waste after standing in line for almost 2 hours.

See it from Staten Island Ferry; free and no hassles!by Yahoo | 2008-03-15 15:54:41 |

Thanks to the 9/11 losers who corrupted flying and going to places like this, the visit to the SOL was the worst! We were up early to go get in line (although we had already pre-purchased tickets) to get searched before getting on the ferry...once at the Statue, had to wait in another horrific long line to get inside. Totally would NOT go thorough all that again...should have taken the ferry to see it from the water--that would have been better than wasting over half of a day of our trip.

Prettier and larger in personby Yahoo | 2007-12-13 06:33:46 |

The ferry ride over is fun--but cold in the winter. The island is really nice and go ahead and take the museum tour (remember, tickets have to be purchased for this at least 2 days in advance). It's worth the 30-45 minute way due to security checks. The museum history is awesome and the observation deck is nice.
