Overview
Known as Niagara's "Other Water Wonder", this aquarium presents an ongoing display of fish and aquatic life from the Great Lakes to the Coral Reef. There are almost 2,000 species ranging from sharks and California sea lions to Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. Originally known as the "First Inland Oceanarium" when it opened 30 years ago, the aquarium has grown to over 50 exhibits. Visitors stop to watch the marine demonstrations at 90-minute intervals.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 09:00 AM to 04:00 PMSeveral things should have been a sign to me not to enter, but I forged on. I immediately noticed the decrepit building when I pulled into the parking lot. Then I noticed that one of the harbor seals in the outside display had a diseased eye. Finally, there was the overwhelming fish odor right inside the door.Unfortunately, as I love aquariums, I plunked down my $10 Canadian ($9.50 USD), and entered. It appears this aquarium has not had a makeover since the '60's. The tanks, the wood paneling, the flooring, the signage...all appeared to be circa 1960. Now I have nothing against retro, but a little maintenance might have made them not look their age. Dirty and broken, they were an instant turn-off. But the most offensive thing of all was the condition of the animals. I am an animal lover, and the seal outside was just the first animal with diseased eyes, or other health problems. This was unforgiveable. I would encourage anyone considering attending this aquarium to not give this enterprise their business, as it only allows them to go on running things in such a shoddy manner.
It's a very small aquarium. The rotten fish smell hits you right when you enter the front doors. haha. It's part of the package deal with the falls, so you might as well see it. Don't expect much though.
At the aquarium you get to see a lot of animals from the water. there is shows all throughout the day and the are really cool. it is a very fun place to visit while at the falls.
I thought it was pricey at first but they did have a lot more on display than I expected. Watching the kids learn things about water creatures was very cool. The kids loved watching the sharks. They had a sea lion show. Worth the trip.
A SMALL aquarium with not too much to offer, but really great place. Beautiful and clean seal show is fun with a great view. Excellent examples of some rare specimens. Whole visit was finished in about an hour.
The Aquarium is small, but packed with cool stuff IF you take the time to look. Don't go in the A.M. when the schools are there on field trips...Watch at least 2 Sea Lions shows....Your admission can go towards a yearly membership wich gets you free classes, touch tanks and lots more...VERY GRANDPARENT FRIENDLY! You can bring all your grandkids, all you want...and the weather is Always perfect INSIDE the Aquarium.....
Niagara Falls, NY is small. Other than the falls, not much going on. Keeping that in mind, the Aquarium was great! It was clean, had lots of fun displays and was family friendly. If you go expecting a New York City extravaganza, you will be disappointed. If you go expecting to see some cute animals (penguins, sea lions and seals) and variety of fish displays you will be truly satisfied. My husband, 2-year-old and I enjoyed it greatly!
Don't waste your time here. Even if you get the admission free of charge in a package, it was such a waste of time. The local fish store was more interesting! Don't understand why these poor fish must suffer in deplorable conditions.
I loved this place!! You get to learn so much...we went on a rainy day during our stay and I was so glad! We got to watch the Seals do a show and watch them feed the sharks! An awesome place to go if you love learning about animals.
It is fantastic. For such a small aquarium there is so many things to see and at a low price.Plus you can even look at the harbor seals outside and inside thees a cool penguin exhibit and a shark exhibit. Not to mention the sea lion shows.
