Overview

Located at the tip of Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island, this historic farm house, originally built in 1849 and restored by the Grand Island Historical Society, contains memorabilia from U.S. President Grover Cleveland (who worked on his uncle's farm as a young man) as well as Victorian furnishings. The Cleveland material includes a library with books, documents and photos connected with Grand Island. Tours of the house are conducted the second Sunday of each month with volunteers dressed in Victorian outfits. Group tours may also be arranged by appointment.

River Lea is a beautiful piece of history tucked away on a lovely park called Beaver Island. The house itself is restored and is in great condition. I would definetly encourage anyone to stop by and visit if you enjoy The Victorian era or American history in general.River Lea is also decorared for Christmas and their are baked goods to try right in the dining area. Crafts are available to purchase and often times there is someone playing the harp adding to the "old fashioned" atmosphere. Plenty of parking is available immediately outside the home for easy access.
