Overview
Readers of Disney-owned Family Fun Magazine recently named this the "#1 Family Friendly Vacation Spot in the U.S." After visiting, you will understand why. Where else can you stroll through the world's largest man-made jungle; view sharks and other deep sea inhabitants through a glass-enclosed, walk-through tunnel; take a Lozier IMAX Theatre adventure to the top of Mt. Everest; and view hundreds of birds flying freely in a mesh aviary the size of four football fields; all in one afternoon?Open Hours
Mo to Su from 09:30 AM to 05:00 PMTotally worth every penny! Food, cost to get in, merry go round - nothing is real expensive and we had a ball! Love the exhibits & the Henry Doorly Zoo is just incredible! Great job guys & we can't wait to come back. Our almost 3 year old son had an incredible time! Helps that we had a perfect weather day & in August! Temps in the low 80's.
I have visited, Jackson MS Zoo, Yazoo City MS Zoo, St Louis MO Zoo, & I feel this zoo really has something going for it. The desert dome, the gorilla viewing spots were amazing. The viewing bubbles were awesome to be able to get that close to wild animals. It was, however, sad to see the tigers outside in the heat. They are probably used to air conditioning & one was pawing the feeding door to get inside. He didn't have that look in his eye that wild animals have, but we are fortunate to be able to visit & see what this zoo offered... more than the other zoos. It was very neat, clean, & restrooms were almost around every corner. It is a memory that I will carry with me & would recommend it to anyone touring that direction. It is for all ages...especially the penguins...they were awesome...one animal we don't see in America, only in zoos. Keep the planning committee going & keep on expanding....no doubt it could become the No. 1 zoo in the United States. I would give it 5 stars...on every aspect. Thanks for making your zoo a very friendly one & a well educated visit.. I will be back again real soon. Great Job!!!!
The Desert Dome exhibit of this zoo rivaled exhibits from San Diego as the best I have ever seen. They made it very realistic and interesting and even the information on the signs was interesting.
We have a membership to the Omaha Zoo, and we've had one for the last 5 years. We go to the zoo numerous times during the year, and we always have a good time. They've recently added a butterfly house, and that is really neat. We also like the Lied Jungle, the Kingdom of the Night, the aquarium... we like everything! I would definitely recommend this zoo to anyone, of all ages. There's something for everyone to see!
Living in Omaha I have to say that my favorite thing is our Zoo. It's always clean and there is always something to see. They are always expanding and working on new projects!!! I have to say that my favorite thing to do is to feed the fish with Cheerios and also to feed the monkeys down by the fish by buying some cheap apples at the store and throwing them (they will catch it- you'd be surprised!)! The zoo offers everything for every age group. Well worth the money- we buy a membership which allows some entries to other zoos as well!
I was literally blown away by this zoo! Never in my life have I seen such lengths a zoo has gone to accommodate the animals and I really loved that about this one. The rain forest will take your breath away especially how they start you out above the tress and take you slowly down to the floor of the forest showing you what animals and vegetation that grows at each level. The desert dome is unreal although the swamp area kind of freaked me out cause it was so dark and I realized that we were with alligators. I loved the train ride we took because basically the zoo is so huge that you cannot possibly walk it all and see everything. I was not that impressed with the area that they kep the cats - it didnt seem to go with the rest of the zoo's open roam concept...instead they more caged. The overall educational side of the zoo was top notched in providing so much information about the animals and their habitats.
I live in Nebraska and my family goes to the zoo every year!! You can spend a whole day here it's so fun! They have just about every animal you can imagine here as well as an IMAX theater which is a movie theater with extremely big screens. They also have a lot of fun things to do around the zoo like you can milk a fake cow and ride a carousel. I would recomend this for people of any age!
This zoo is the best ever,my husband Mike and I our daughter, soninlaw and grandchildren had the best time. The primeate area is my favorite. Now when we go to any other zoo its hard not to make comparisons .Our grandson may have said it best on a resent trip to the Minnesota Zoo "BOY THIS IS NOTHIN COMPAIRED TO THE OMAHA ZOO"We are addicted ,we have been back five times, we well be back in the spring to see the new babies.CANT WATE! My husband and I love zoos, and we had heard so much about this one. we were disappointed. There is some unique things, the desert dome etc. Other thank that, not a lot of animals and there is a lot of walking to each enclosure. the big cats looked underfed... Don't get me wrong it is okay, just in our opinion no where near the best.
The amount of different animals is amazing. The customer service is superb. This is definetely a place to take the whole family. Visit anytime, summer or winter, over ten indoor exhibits keeps the family warm during cold spells.
