Overview

No visit to Southern California would be complete without a visit to the Magic Kingdom; Disneyland has been making dreams come true for decades. Disneyland, located within Disneyland Resort, is divided into eight "lands" with different themes, such as Fantasyland, Critter Country, Mickey's Toon Town and Tomorrowland. The park is open 365 days of the year. Holidays are some of the busiest times for the park, so plan accordingly. Hours can change according to the season, so be sure to call or check the website before planning your trip.

the Overcrowded Disneyland HongKongby Yahoo | 2008-12-28 01:53:42 |

I took my two young boys to Disneyland Hong Kong in mid Dec 2008. Having seen the snowy theme they highlighted in the TV and online commercial prior to the visit, I packed all the wrong clothes. The weather was surprisingly hot for winter and lots of tourists seen in the park were sweating in woolen jumpers, snow jackets while the locals turned up in shorts and T-shirts. Our first visit was on a Friday afternoon. The park was extremely crowded. Most of the rides had waiting time of 45 to 60mins sign on. The length of the queues is beyond imagination. The zigzagging metal barriers set up in "Small World" were exaggeratingly massive and messy. My 4-year-old nearly got squashed in the "Small World". I had to bring kids back to the park 4 more times as it was just impossible to queue up for all the rides they like. Boys were crying in the queue often times and the queuing really affected the supposed-to-be happy holiday spirit. Most of the tourists are local and from mainland China. There are more adults and aged grandparents than children in the park and many of them take only 1 vehicle rather than sharing with others. There is little queue management from staff apart from those who tell you how long the queuing time is. We stayed in Disneyland Hotel for 7 days and we never had chance for Mickey's Christmas House due to the queue, despite the effort of getting there as soon as they open in the morning. Souvenirs were very pricy in Hong Kong Disneyland. An American friend from the same hotel told us almost everything in Hong Kong Disneyland costs much more than the original park in the States. Ice-cream just outside the Small World has the world's most expensive price tag and the worst taste. Food at the Comet Cafe was terrible. 2 out of 5 rice dishes were out of stock. Meat was chewy and fatty. The chips served in the fast food restaurant in Tomorrowland however was delicious, though they are not flexible in making any changes in Kids' meal (ie change corn cob to chips or water to soft drinks is not allowed). I would not recommend Hong Kong Disneyland to anyone. There is definitely a need for another Disneyland Park in Asia to relieve Hong Kong. The incredible crowd and poor management of the population there ruin the holiday experience.

Best in Showby Yahoo | 2008-11-19 19:12:19 |

Whats with all these comparisons to Disney World? Get a life. This is the worlds first modern theme park and was built in the 50's, of course its going to be significantly smaller. Theyve done an outstanding job adding new attractions while keeping the integrity of the park as well as expanding the property by adding 2 more hotels and another park. Good mix of thrill rides and family rides, best dark ride collection ever. Best theme park in Cal no question.

We cant wait to go back!by Yahoo | 2008-11-11 07:08:28 |

Disneyland is the best place you can find on planet earth!! Its the only theme park where everyone is friendly and the rides are actually entertaining! I have been to Disneyland 16 times and it NEVER gets old. I love big roller coasters like Goliath, superman, and even king ad kA at six flags, but the roller-coasters in disneyland are way better than any I have ever ridden. I mean where else in the world can you travel through space, be attacked by pirates, bobsled down the matterhorn, and be smashed by a giant boulder before lunch?

Happiest Place On Earth!by Yahoo | 2008-10-07 03:26:55 |

Disneyland is one of those places that can never be beat, and is a classic, something that warms your heart at the mention of it's name. It's truly the happiest place on Earth! If you have had a bad experience, I hope you give Disneyland a second chance, maybe it was a bad day, try another day, in the opposite time of year, (Winter time is one of the best) and try to not be too picky. "Disneyland is your land..." -Walt Disney Enjoy it while you can.

Can't wait to go back!by Yahoo | 2008-09-30 02:15:07 |

There are a lot of good things about Disneyland. The rides are excellent. There are many rides for adults and children (all ages) I just went with my 8th grade class for graduation. I had a blast. I am now saving for my b-day. It's worth it!! All Californias must go. I am obssessed I think about it all day.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!by Yahoo | 2008-07-06 06:23:37 |

This was my first trip to Disneyland and I was very excited (since I am an avid DisneyWorld/Cruise fan) to bring my children there for our family vacation. The park was smaller (which I expected so no big deal) however, the cast members were HORRIBLE! Disney is just an amusement park but what makes it so special(and what I pay for) is the way your are treated while in the park. I was yelled at by cast members so many times that it got to a point where I was afraid to do anything and just wanted to go home. We are a very considerate family and we follow the rules but, they seem to have a lot of strange rules that they don't have in FL. If I am doing something wrong, please tell me...I don't need to be yelled at or spoken down to like a child....by a child! Also, I can't tell you how many castmembers argued right in front of me about their breaks or when they get off or how they are not staying late and "I'm not covering for so & so". You would NEVER get that in Disney World...disneyland is just another amusement park and there is nothing special about it. I am so sad that we wasted our vacation there. I was beginning to think maybe it was just me but, I met many people in our hotel who were having the same unpleasant experience. If you are going to be in CA enjoy the more scenic vacations....save your Disney trip for Florida.

There is no better place....by Yahoo | 2008-06-23 04:49:42 |

Disneyland is the best place to visit anytime of the year but the very best time is during the Christmas Holiday season. It's the most magical experience you'll ever have. Take it from me and plan your next trip to Disneyland.

Happiest place on earth, but a little crowdedby Yahoo | 2008-06-11 01:56:48 |

I LOVE Disneyland! The atmosphere of everything is just fantastic, and all the rides are SO much fun. My absolute favorite is Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain is great for a hot day. The only complaint is that it is crowded and if you're going for the first time you need to be prepared & patient to wait at LEAST 20 minutes for every ride. I actually think the food is quite tasty, costly, but tasty.

CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!by Yahoo | 2008-06-10 20:08:58 |

I'm 25 and just went to Disneyland for the 1st time with my 5 yr. old daughter. We had the best time ever. We went 3 days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday). Each day we were there from the time the park opened until it closed or was about to close. We did have to wait in line for 50 minutes each for two rides. Other than that, it was anywhere from 10-45 minutes. Everyone was extremely friendly. I do have to agree that the food was not very good but, I did not go for the food either. Also, I saw people complaining that it was so expensive and I don't understand how they didn't expect it to be a little expensive. We loved Disneyland and would recommend going to anyone.
