Overview

Orlando Science Center is a glistening structure that is highlighted by the dome of the John Young Planetarium and looks like the product of a meeting between Greco-Roman architects and Star Trek engineers. The analogy applies to inside activities as well. The museum strives to teach kids (and adults) about classical science using modern, hands-on, sometimes high-tech activities. With 207,000 square feet, the museum houses 10 themed exhibit halls where patrons can explore the human body, modern technology, the solar system and other topics. The exhibits often change, so you can always learn something new. Its eight-story CineDome is billed as the world's largest movie theater. It shows large-format nature/technology films.

Ripoff with a giant Rby Yahoo | 2007-09-17 14:35:03 |

First we had to pay $4.00 to park. Next we only had to pay $23.00 each to get in because we are seniors. So far we have $50.00 invested and then the museum has the audacity to have a big donation box right next to where we purchased our tickets. I guess We were just expecting too much.We just recently returned from a visit to London England where all the nuseums are free. The Orlando Science Center compared to the London Museums is nothing but a Carnival Side Show. We have now been to the Orlando Science Center twice. Our first and last time in one visit. Its just all about money here in the states.

laser light shows at OSCby Yahoo | 2007-08-26 14:02:25 |

Rather dull because you don't really see laser beams, just the images projected onto the cinedome screen, most of which are corny. I wouldn't consider this a real laser light show, and it's somewhat misleading that they choose to call it that. Incidently, they pick some really lame songs for the rockin' 80's show. Gets old after the first 2 songs. Don't bother.

Loved it!by Yahoo | 2007-07-06 21:04:54 |

During the summer my boyfriend and I were trying to figure out something to do rather than go to the theme parks like we usually do. I've always heard about the Science Center but never went. My boyfriend and I decided that instead of wasting the day we'd give this place a shot. We ended up loving it. It was tons of fun & there's so much to do. It's better than waiting in lines all day with people screaming, sweating, and all the tourists waiting to get on a ride that lasts 5 minutes. This place is affordable and lots of fun. They have a huge theater where you have a selection of movies to see that were very interesting and educational in a fun and non boring way. I recommend this place because we sure had a blast. [ Just to let you know, I'm not a huge science nerd either =] ]

Low Cost - High Intrigue & Knowledgeby Yahoo | 2005-07-04 15:29:23 |

Since my children have been 3 and 4 years old, they have indulged in the adventures of this powerful organization. What a delight it is to know that we can see movies without ratings though packed with life's lessons, thrilling historical accounts of anything and everything as well as understand everything from the human body to the solar system. NO WHERE in Orlando can a family go to a local complex with a Gold Plan at a cost of ONLY $110.00 annually, (2004) and have free parking, free admissions and access to several movies. If you are not a member, you are missing out on one of the greatest adventures in Orlando!

One of a kind!by Yahoo | 2005-05-16 21:59:57 |

A great place for families and an excellent, fun, and more affordable alternative to the theme parks. Checkout the website: http://www.osc.org
