The club is all show and no go. The clubhouse kitchen was closed by the health department last Friday for a bug infestation. The General Manager Tim Timlin, had someone stand in front of the sign pasted to the window so that the members couldn't see it, while they re-directed members to the pool to eat. Never judge a book by it's cover!

We had our wedding here a few years ago and could not have chosen a more fabulous location. Windermere Country Club, Islesworth - nothing compares. The prices were surprisingly reasonable and the food was delicious. The club house is extremely elegant and classy. Very posh. Plus, the service is amazing. I don't play golf so I cannot comment on the course, but the facilities are beautiful. It is a private club, though, so invitations are required and weddings must be sponsored by a member.

After reading the above reviews, I'm not sure those folks were playing the same course I did. I played C.C.O. after the re-design by Cornish and Silva. Donald Ross must be rolling in his grave. The condition was poor and the layout was only alright. I did enjoy the clubhouse, pool and dining facilities. Dinner was excellent. As far as the golf experience goes however, C.C.O. is not in the top 50 courses I have played, let alone the top 3. While C.C.O. may be "old money" Olrando, I would have considered the membership cheap, instead of "not flashy". Donald Ross's name should no longer be mentioned as the sole designer of C.C.o., because if the golf course was ever considered one of Donald's gems, it is now a lousy track with a great dinning room and clubhouse.

My wife and I belong to a similar club in the Northeast, as well the Everlgades Club in Palm Beach. We recently played this course with friends who are members at Orlando Country Club and split their time between Highlands (in North Carolina) and Florida. Suffice it to say that we know golf courses and golf clubs. What an awesome experience we had. We've played many courses across America and the globe. This one by far ranks in the top 3. The golf course is top notch and challenging; some of the holes are narrow in the traditionalist design only seen in the better, older courses. The tennis courts are excellent, too. The architecture of the club house is sultry Mediterranean style, like what we see in South Florida. My wife and I would like to spend time in Orlando to play golf at the Country Club of Orlando as a nice alternative to the Everglades Club.

This ultra exclusive private club rivals the Palm Beach Bath and Tennis Club in its style and refined, subtle elegance. The members are mostly old money and low key--most very wealthy and established, but they're NOT flashy. Founded in 1911, this historic club is STILL by far the best in Orlando (and one of the tops in the State)--and the hardest to get in to. It's the anti-Isleworth (the local nouveau riche, throw-around-hundred-dollar-bills club) The golf course was designed by Donald Ross, near the turn of the last century. (Donald Ross also designed the golf course at the Breaker's Hotel in Palm Beach.) The facilities are top rate: the pool, workout room, and tennis courts. The service throughout the club is very attentive and first class. I have played the golf course many times. If you can get a member to take you, you should go. You won't be disappointed.
