Was there with my daughter-in-law in July of 2006. Had a great time. Was very impressed with the way the tour is laid out. Would love to go back again someday.

I had just gotten back to Asia from a trip to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia (where I had visited the aquarium my friend works at - ReefHQ in Townsville) and was a little leary about visiting this aquarium. It was great though. There are so many great display tanks that have both English and Japanese signs and stories. Even though the English translations on some signs were not very good, they got the point across. I spent a good 3 hours there by myself walking around and thoroughly enjoyed it!

This place is well worth a look, it is not everyday you can see a whale shark in a fish tank. There are may other species, giant trevally, groper, shsrks and a fiant manta ray. The exhibit also has other tanks with dolphins, sea otters (which are suprisingly large)and tropical exhibits. When we arrived the Emporer penguins were being displayed out in the square, they are really cool. We went on a Sunday and it was very busy, go during the week. To avoid the chaos our tip is once you have gone up the longest esculator in the world, or so it seems, the crowd banks up so make break to get down a couple of flors and it thins out. CosmicY2K

I was there on November 5, 2007. It was an awesome xperience for me as it was the first time I visited an aquarium of this kind. I loved the penguins, otters, jelly fish (which were very colourful) and the whale shark. I felt that the whale shark had very little space to move around and the view was a bit murky. On the whole the aquarium was an exciting place to be. It is a must visit if you go to Osaka.

The Osaka Aquarium is a great way to spend your time in Osaka. It's easy to get to and the admission price is pretty reasonable for Japan. There are several other sights worth seeing nearby and you can by tickets for them at the aquarium at a discount. This is recommended. The Aquarium is pretty friendly to the English-speaking visitor. English audio-guides are avaliable as are maps. Most exhibites are also in English and Japanese. There don't seem to be any English-speaking guides, however. As for the exhibits themselves they're excellet. The enclosers do seem a bit small but the animals all seem perfectly happy. The sea otters are lots of fun to watch. The king crabs, manta rays, and whale shark are what I'd consider the other highlights. The only bad thing I can really say about the place is that it can be rather crowded. So you might have to back off a bit and wait if you want to picture of something. Other than that I'd suggest Osaka Aquarium to anyone.

My family visited the aquarium on 5 Dec 2006 and find the sea otters and penguins were lovable. For those who love marine life from all the world, this is THE place! And the section on th Pacific Ocean is really great! Intertesting place to go!

This "aquairum" is awesome! The place is huge, it has one huge tank in the middle of it, and you work your way from the top 'around' it all the way to the exit. You start off by taking the longest and highest escelator I have ever been on!(I could barely see the bottom, when we got to the top) Sure the main attraction the whale shark is there, but he is a bit bored I think. I mean i know i would be if I was that big and put into something much smaller then the Sea, but he is great none the less. I Highly suggest checking this place out if you find yourself in Oosaka! Plus there is a McDonalds, and some small shops on the way there from the train stop.

The acquarium is not as big as some others I have been to, but it was well-designed with each tank representing different oceans of the world. As everyone else mentioned, the main tank housed a whale shark (flanked by its many "groupies") but it also had a number of very large rays. The big sunfish was also pretty amazing to see, although it was contained in a net and left with little room to move. The jellyfish exhibit was pretty cool, very much like the one in Monterey.

For those who love marine life from all the world, this is THE place! And the section on th Pacific Ocean is really great! Intertesting place to go.

The best one I have been to in my life. I have never seen a 20+ foot long whale shark anywhere else. There were lots of other impressive displays as well.
