Overview
"Universal Studios Japan, or USJ, promises to be the Osaka rival of Tokyo Disneyland. USJ is the third movie-based theme park in the Universal Studios' family and the first opened outside of the United States. Visitors can experience live-action shows and amusement park rides inspired by some of the more popular Universal Studios' films, including Jaws, Back to the Future and Terminator. The park also features a number of American-style restaurants centered on movie themes. It promises a great time for adults, but small children may be overwhelmed by the attractions.Open Hours
Mo to Fr from 09:30 AM to 05:00 PMWe are foreigners living in Japan and have gone to USJ almost 20 times in a 2 year time span. It is a nice taste of the Western world and break from the chaotic Japanese life for us. If you plan on going multiple times in a year watch for the campaign sales for yearly passes. You can actually get a really good deal and saves you a ton of money, plus special deals and discounts throughout the year for members. The food is a little overpriced but what theme park doesn't charge more so it was somewhat expected. Get your hand stamped and go across to Universal Citywalk for lunch as their are much cheaper restaurants. Yes, all the rides and announcements are in Japanese but hello USJ is in Japan so don't expect it to be catered to foriegners. It can actually be quite fun to listen to the Sesame Street characters, etc. in Japanese. The best time to visit is off season when school aged kids won't be there. Also visit weekdays in the morning and early afternoon as later in the evening usually gets busy as kids stop by after school and weekends are always busier. They have a parent swap program for parents with young kids where one parent can wait in a waiting room with the kids and then go on the ride and then switch parents without having to wait in line again. Always lots of stores for shopping. Make sure you plan out the shows you want to go to as some of them end early. Make sure you do your favorite rides first before the lines get too long if you go on a busy day or expect to wait easily 90 minutes...go on off season days and avoid any lines at all. They do have a brochure and map in English although not too difficult to figure out the Japanese map. If you are going for an overnight I would recommend doing the 1 1/2 day pass where you can go in the first day after 3pm for the evening and then the whole next day until closing.
environment, people, and so many things at there. And now, i adapted the environment of the power plant at from to my geothermal power plant at Tomohon, Indonesia. Because that is have an specil characteristic n charming for everyone who have ever go to the power plant at Osaka.
i liked the park it was just annoying because we had to line up for an hour and a half to get in! THEN when you get inside all the rides (and there is only 6 i think this is the problem) were at least a 40-75 minute wait for them..so we didnt end up going on any rides as we were sick of lining up....the waterworld show was great though and the park is done extremely well...i think it will be great in a few years when they add more rides it will take the pressure off each one and hopefully you wont have to wait as long.
I loved everything, from nice people to the core of each attraction. But the only point is that all things are written and announced in Jananese, I just needed some English translations sometimes to enjoy everything more and thoroully
Well I LOVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD it! The rides were cool the food was good! Though it may have cost a little bit too much where I went. But enjoy the place while your there cause I wanna go back but I cant go back till the summer. Buy tickets early there cheaper if you do that^.^ Merry Christmas!!!!!!
I liked that it was easy to find your way around and that there were lots of good restaurants. There wasnt anything I disliked, but bring a handtowel or a change of pants if you plan on going on the water rides like Jaws or the water slide.
the people were great everyone was fabulous its great an awsome experience it was the highlight of our trp thankyou universal studios japan for a lovely time xoxoxoxoxo
I recommend this place. Waiting time is shorter than you think and you can meet many characters!! If you like cortscrew, there are many ride you enjoy.
USJ was a world completely apart from the everyday bustle of Japan. It offered huge hamburgers and root beer at outrageous prices, singers crooning movie tunes in English, and some of everybody's favorite cartoon characters ever ready for a picture. We chose to make the day of it on Christmas day, which helped keep our mind off of home. Or on home, if that makes more sense. It was truly an uber-happy place with too much to take in all in one day. The park wasn't massive, but all the rides and shows made it busy. The souvenier shops were fantastic, and not much more expensive than everyday shopping is in Japan. The perfect end to a fast-paced, whirlwind day was the fireworks over the water. We didn't mind one bit that it seemed body-on-body capacity that day. It was more than worth it!
I think that it is great! What I recommend is to ride the Spiderman attraction. When I first did it, it was fantastic! But Don't try too many times. If you get car sick easily, you'll get it.
