Overview

The owners call this small Italian restaurant in the heart of Ottawa's Little Italy a labor of love, and it comes through in every meal served, from the classic veal and pasta dishes to the house specialties. You'll delight in the chef's tempting creations, including portafolgio di pollo (chicken stuffed with ham, cheese, tomato, garlic and cooked in a wine and mushroom sauce) and costolettine di agnello dorate (pan-fried golden lamb cutlets).

    never againby Yahoo | 2009-10-11 15:26:13 |

Went on a Saturday night. Group of seven. two other tables of two were in the restaurant. Seats were stained and broken. Pasta dishes were tastless, veal dish tough. Steak was adequate. appetizer chicken soup was like salty dishwater. Service was virtually non existant.

    avoid unless desperateby Yahoo | 2008-03-24 00:23:26 |

It was a Saturday night and by 8:30 we were the only people in the restaurant; the red flag should have gone up. The ambiance was rather nice, lots of paintings and ancient decor, perfect for picture taking- but we came for food (and wine) and for this we were very dissapointed. My wine tasted watered down, it had no flavor and taste. I also must add that my friend's cranberry juice also tasted nothing like cranberry- again it felt watered down. Caesar salad I started my Leonardo's experience with was plentiful but quality was non-existant; it was rather rancid (too much vinegar), no bacon bits and salad was kind of chunky and not good quality. However, I was looking forward to my main dish- a trio house special of gnocchi, lasagna and veal! However, between our starters and meals we waited an hour- again this wait was very un-professional since we were the only people in the restaurant and we also had a reservation. However, we were offered dry garlic buns to enjoy while waiting. When the meals arrived I was again dissapointed; on an oval plate was some gnocchi on the left, a piece of microwavable dry lasagna in the middle and on the right a thin pice of veal with some cheese on top. WOW. Presentation was zero, and the taste- unfortunatelly even worse. It did not taste fresh or tasty and the price was ridiculous! I could have faked a better Italian meal with some Michellinas and sidekicks by my side! The only good food was icecream I shared with a friend; a chocolate moca cake... must have come from any quality Italian store.

    Great Serviceby Yahoo | 2007-03-15 14:38:40 |

The food and service is always exceptional. What I like most about this restaurant is that they do there absolute best to cater to your tastebuds. The decor is a little out dated - but it kind of adds to the charm of the place. I always order a dish that is not on the Menu - and they make it exactly the way I like it. The value is great and the home made wine is above average. They always have great specials and I think this restaurant is the hidden gem of little Italy!

    Great Food, Eclectic Decorby Yahoo | 2006-09-08 20:13:56 |

The food at Leonardo's is very good. We had the zuccini to start with and it was perfect, firm and crispy. We have had pasta dishes and they were out of this world. The service was prompt and pleasent without being snotty. Don't go here though if your looking for a fancy place. It was a sunny day and we sat in the front section, which opens to the outside .The decor was a little odd, a mix of many interesting object. But if you want good food try it.
