Overview

An historical landmark in Paris since 1890, this cafe was a favorite of many great 19th-century writers and artists. French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre always took his coffee and croissant on the terrace. These days you can drop in for a quick snack or glass of Champagne having shopped-till-you-dropped in the district's luxurious boutiques. The smart set that revels in the cafe's upmarket style insures that its reputation lives on.

Disaster! Go elsewhereby Yahoo | 2008-03-03 18:59:29 |

The waiters are arrogant and clearly don't like tourists. When asked to speak in French, they reply in English! The service is painfully slow. The water for my herb tea was luke warm but I was told - too bad - that's how the machine makes it!! The croissants are great but there are loads of places with good croissants. This place is a rip off - Go elsewhere. LaDuree is only around the corner and its great!!

Ripby Yahoo | 2007-09-30 20:57:49 |

This was a convenient location, but the waiter recognizing American tourists, gave us a bill for 34 Euros for some Croissants, coffee and orange juice. Explaining that there was a service charge. It was all baloney, and he obviously ripped us off. Would not go there again.

Historic but overpricedby Yahoo | 2007-06-24 14:22:37 |

After a week in Paris, we came to this storied cafe for lunch. Yes, the location is beautiful, clean and well taken care of. The food was fresh but very overpriced - two salads, a glass of wine and mineral water cost us 50 euro for lunch! And in this city of delicious food, they provided only bottled salad dressing! Clearly this place is resting on its past glamour.

Such a big mistakeby Yahoo | 2007-03-28 07:27:31 |

We went to Cafe de Flore last weekend during our visit to Paris. It was all very nice at the begining. Altough very crowded we managed to site down. It took us about 20 minutes to get the waiter's attention. We ordered salads at the end. Mid way through my salad I saw a black bug (insect) in the dish and we all stopped eating. We showed the waiter the bug he just made an expression! No appolligies, no regrets nothing. We asked for the check and saw that they charged us for the salad with the insect as well!!! We told him that this was wrong, he didn't even care to answer and showed us the bill! He was so rude. We left no tip and left without paying for that salad. I would never step foot in that cafe!!!

A place to visit while in Parisby Yahoo | 2007-02-21 05:37:00 |

I liked the atmosphere and the courtesy of the people. Being my visit to Paris a dream come true this place is really awsome and while in Paris it is a must place to come to and I definitely recommend it.

Nice place for people watchingby Yahoo | 2006-08-06 04:22:46 |

This St Germain cafe is one of the best places to hangout and people-watch in the city. Like many others, this place has a lot of history behind it. When you are sitting outside in winter, do remember to order the house drink - hot grog - to warm you up.

Brings one's faith back.by Yahoo | 2005-11-30 20:19:53 |

Cafe de Flore is the "it" spot in St. Germain. It has vibe, history and attractive people to admire. Go there with someone you love, order the Champagne de la maison and I guarantee you the most enchanting afternoon you'll spend in Gay Paree.

The sucky restaurantby Yahoo | 2005-06-03 16:54:25 |

The food here is good but is overcosted. I hated their toilet
