Overview

With buildings such as the CNIT (Centre National des Industries et Techniques) or the Grande Arche, the architecture of the La Defense complex is definitely futuristic. Over 1000 major blue chip companies, 15 out of 50 of the world's largest, have set up their head offices here. La Defense also houses one of the largest shopping centers in Europe - the Quatre-Temps has over 250 shops. The promenade on the square (a vast concrete slab that makes up its base) exhibits contemporary sculptures by famous artists, such as Calder, Miro and Takis.

La Defense: Ultra-Modern French Chichby Yahoo | 2004-08-22 15:00:42 |

La Defense is a site over looked or unknown of by many tourists. You see the shapes of the buildings of La Defense thorough the Paris haze while you are a top the Eiffel Tower (or other such places) but most don't venture to La Defense. Well you should. It is one of the most amazing modern business districts in the world and offers superb views of the French capital form a top its arch. And the Quatre-Temps Mall is something that must be seen to be belived (a shoppers paradise). New Paris is just as remakeable as Old Paris and should most definently be visited.
