It's hard to imagine how this wildly commercialized strip of scenic beach front could have fared as a fabled haunt of hippies in the 1970s. The coast is filled with the clunky expanses of concrete, the unmistakable edifice of mass tourism. A dozen upscale resorts and lesser quality shops and stands betray over 20 years of packaged tourism designed specifically for Japanese travelers during the bubble economy era. A nocturnal bazaar of trinket shops, budget restaurants, rowdy bars and discos have now been added to the list of unforgettable experiences on offer at Batu Ferringhi.Open Hours

If you want a active holiday with jet skis, parasailing, good food, dirt cheap shopping, crowds...then Batu Ferringhi is the place. Been there thrice, each time found out something new. You want a quiet and hassle free sea front, go further down to Teluk bahang. Somebody wrote a review that BF is a result of Crass commercial tourisim. But then if you want a beach all for yourself, there are thousands of hidden coves all along the penang. Why target BF? :) When i wanted a private beach, I picked up a map, rented a motorcycle and camping gear, explored the country side, spoke to fisherman (Sign language) and found some really wonderful places. And no, I dont want to publish the hidden coves :)
If you want to find intimidate items like bags, watches, clothes and etc, this is a good place. Lots of stalls for you to choose from and bargaining is a must. The best part I like bout this place is cheap DVD, RM4 per piece (KL is bout RM10). There are also some good restaurants if you feel hungry. If u are looking for souvenir like keychains and fridge magnets, make sure you look for stalls that sells 3 for RM10 or 4 for RM10. It's cheaper unless you only need one :)
I was in Battu Ferringhi for 2 months verry nice place to relax and get to know outher touriste, nightmarket is very nice, alos the foodcourt!!
Although I'm a local tourist, I adore Feringgi Beach. Long strecht of white sandy beach. The night market also interesting. Make me want to go back again.
