One of the largest heritage mansion in Malaysia, it was painstakingly restored by its present owners. If they switch tour guide, I might considerby Yahoo | 2008-09-02 03:43:54 |

The mansion is beautiful.Worth visiting. It will be even better if only they allow us to take pictures inside. It's historical anyway, should share the treasure with others and hey, it attracts more tourist to go if we can see that it is worth that visit. However, the tour guide was really rude. Besides the fact that we ALWAYS have to be in her eye sight, she doesn't allow any interruptions when she is talking. That means no asking questions or adding comments as she claims she no longer remembers what she needs to say. It honestly didn't make it a friendly visit. Having visited many other places with guided tour, this should intereactive. She critized tourists who doesnt listen to her. We felt like we were kidnergarden kids constantly afraid that she will scold us. Lots of foreign tourists sneaked out as they got irritated with her attititude. While she might be knowledgeable but this is a tourist spot. She is meant to make it friendly and warm instead of vice versa. Definitely she did not portray the friendly Malaysian image. Too sad! :(

just a little too hot for comfort..but apart from that just great. We were there for Dr Mahendra Sibartie and Dr lee Teak Tan's wedding..and what a wedding/reception it was too. Had a lovely time in Penang too. Great place and people too. Will definitely go again.

The entrance fee are very expensive and unvalueble. We had to stand there and listen to the tutorial for more than half and hour it's bored and hot until i seawting. And we are not allow to move around by ourselves. this is a historial place but we are not allow to the photo it's wasted the beautiful of the interior design.

i love everything about the mansion.. cooling blue-indigo walls.. beautiful nouveau glass stain windows (by the way there are 220 windows) .. iron cast staircase.. you've got to be there to experience it (and the power of feng shui of course).. feel totally at peace.. can't wait to be back in penang next year

Historic and wonderful experienceby Yahoo | 2005-08-19 07:18:56 |

I loved the history, colour and 'feel' of the place - none of the standard luxories of international travel but worth its weight in gold as a travel 'experience' will return next time in Penang.

Definitely worth a visit!by Yahoo | 2005-04-01 03:58:55 |

I'm a student from Kuala Lumpur and I've been to the mansion once and I loved it! Although the admission price would be cheap for tourists, it's a bit high for local students (always on a budget!). I was amazed by Cheong Fatt Tze's feng shui prowess and I learnt a lot of history about this illustrious man which is really inspiring. The interior is incredible and it made me want to spend a night or two there just for the atmosphere!

I am from Penang and I didn't realised that there is such a beautiful mansion in the island until last week! We went for a trip around the mansion and it was truly fascinating. So many rooms and its even a hotel! The architecture is really intricate and detailed, it was mesmerizing! If there's only one place to visit in Penang, let it be Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion!
