First time for me to be facing a very wide river....firt i thought that the place was fronting the sea but then I realized I was in the heart of Cambodia..... I like the stroll day in and day out...eating some boiled corn and just watching people take their stroll enjoying the breeze....but one landmark that I enjoyed most is that one flag pole bore the flag of the Philippines...I need to be in this place again..I cant wait for April 2008..Hey Son Mao get ready with your bike

Hi, I've just got back from the best trip to Cambodia and I wanted to let you know that we stayed in a fantastic guesthouse in Phnom Penh. It's called PKD1, No 40 Street 136. It's close to everything and right near the river too and for only $10 - 15 a night!! It's not mention in your guide but this place should be! I was worried about traveling to Cambodia with my girlfriend but this place, the people and Sokun the manager, made our trip unforgettable. Can't wait to go back. Emma

I departed Phnom Penh (PP) in March 05 after 22 months there. The people, for the most part were very friendly and helpful. An outstanding resturant was the Chiang Mai on the River Front. And for a great place to party, try the "Lounge" on a Friday or Saturday night, also on the River Front. For a relaxing time, visit the beaches at Sihanoukville. Shopping in PP is fun! A must see is the Russian Market and a walk through the Central Market.

I was with a friend, and her family at the river. Around four pm the sun was getting low, and the weather was nice comfortable. Alot of Khmer were starting to come to the park to socialize. I seen two motos bumped into each other front of me. Both new bikes, and the drivers giving each other dirty looks.lol I was at ease. The only problem was the Beggars, and hawkers circling me like sharks. If you don't make eye contact they go away. Watch out for the ants too. ouch.

It was better than the u.s I have never seen anything as great. awsome. you should go there. I think you would like it if you are older little kids wouldn't think it was that interesting but I think if you are older it would seem alot more interesting. If you are planning to go there you should go there around August it is alot more pretty and the weather is great. All I can say is that it was the best experience of my life.

the only problem with the river front i found was the amount of beggars and hawkers all night, but as mentioned in your guide is the ginger monkey, 100m down st 178. great bar, great atmosphere and low prices, no beggars and is open til last person leaves, latter than anywhere on the riverfront. they also have a no taxi girl policy, so popular with expats and tourists of both genders, a must for a fun night out. try one of their cocktails in happy hour and get one free!!

Was disappointed in the Riverfront hotel. While money was not a consideration, I wanted to take the Boat from Sein Reip to Phnom Penh. The dock was right accross the street. I choose this hotel and paid three months in advance. The hotel was under rennovation when we arrived. At First they claimed no reservation. Then they said yes but had no room. Finally they ssigned me to a room that was a disgrace. At breakfast, they would give me no coffee refill. Ate in the dining room only one of five nights even though included with the room rate paid. When I went to check out, they insisted and I finally paid for two bottles of water each of the five days i was there. Every hotel including those in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, that said the water was safe, still gave you two free bottles each day. RIP OFF!!!! Never stay here again.

Yeah, the Riverfront is Phnom Penh's major attraction, esp. on Sundays when scores of Cambodians come out to stroll along the Riverfront, have a picnic in the park in front of the Royal Palace, play games with their kids and have their pictures taken by some 'professional' photographer. A great atmosphere. When getting thirsty, have a drink at the FCC. From their balcony, the view on the crowds below and the confluence of Tonle Sap and Mekong is great. Food is on the expensive side though. Better option is frizz cafe restaurant, for a taste of genuine Khmer food, yummie! They are just past the 'happy' pizza places. The Riverfront dies down early, around 11 at night. But, no need to go some other part of town. Just one block from the Riverfront is the Ginger Monkey Bar, with a delightful atmosphere. They organize special theme nights regularly.So, yeah, enjoy a day on Sisowath Quay!(official name of the Riverfront)
